I. Historical evolution
The history of the school can be traced back to the early days of the founding of New China. As early as September of 195 1 year to July of 1953, in order to quickly restore and establish the national basic industrial system in a short time, Changchun Higher Vocational School of Civil Engineering, Changchun Survey Geology Technical School and Changchun Hydropower Engineering School were established with the planning approval of the Ministry of Fuel Industry of the Northeast People's Government and the Central People's Government.
Before the mid-1980s, these three schools were renamed several times, and their affiliation and school-running level also changed many times. They are mainly managed by the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and the Ministry of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, and train front-line specialized technical personnel for metallurgical construction, metallurgical geology and water conservancy and hydropower industries.
1984 to 1985. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the three schools were upgraded to Changchun Institute of Architecture, Changchun Institute of Metallurgical Geology and Northeast Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower respectively. In the course of more than ten years, the three schools have accumulated and provided a lot of valuable experience in promoting the development of higher engineering education in China in the reform of education and teaching. Four teaching reform achievements won the second prize of national teaching achievements, and the Academic Affairs Office was selected as "National Excellent Academic Affairs Office of Colleges and Universities" by the Ministry of Education twice. From 65438 to 0997, these three schools were selected by the Ministry of Education as key construction schools of national demonstrative higher engineering colleges, which played a leading and demonstrative role in the reform and construction of higher vocational education in China at that time.
Since 1996, three schools have successively recruited and trained 16 undergraduate students majoring in construction engineering.
In March 2000, the Ministry of Education officially approved the merger of Changchun Institute of Architecture, Changchun Institute of Technology and Changchun Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power to form changchun institute of technology. Since the joint running of the school, the scale of the school has expanded, education has developed rapidly, the level of running the school has been continuously improved, and the comprehensive strength has been obviously enhanced. A talent training pattern focusing on engineering majors such as architecture, geology, water conservancy, electric power, mechanical and electrical engineering, supplemented by engineering, management, arts and sciences, has been constructed, and a teaching-oriented university featuring applied education has been formed. The school has been awarded the title of "model unit" and "model unit of civilized unit" by Jilin provincial government and Changchun municipal government for many times, and the school party Committee has been awarded the title of advanced party Committee by Changchun Municipal Committee.
In February, 2007, with the approval of the General Political Department of China People's Liberation Army and the Ministry of Education, the school became one of the national 100 colleges and universities with national defense students' enrollment qualifications.
20 1 1 September, the school has been officially approved by the Ministry of Education as the second batch of universities to implement the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan".
2011/in June, the school was identified by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as the "National Training Project for Talents with Special Needs"-a pilot unit for bachelor's degree-granting units to train master's degree graduates.

The school has two campuses, Hudong Campus and Huxi Campus, with a total area of 458,000 ㎡. The school has three key disciplines in Jilin Province, two engineering research centers in colleges and universities in Jilin Province, Jilin Engineering Research Center 1, Urban Construction and Development Research Center 1, four practice teaching demonstration centers in Jilin Province and two engineering laboratories in Jilin Province.

The school focuses on undergraduate education and enrolls students nationwide. At present, there are more than 3000 full-time students/kloc-0, including more than 2000 undergraduates/kloc-0 and nearly 500 junior college students (including higher vocational students).
The school has 17 teaching units, including mechanical and electrical engineering college, electrical and information engineering college, energy and power engineering college, civil engineering college, water conservancy and environmental engineering college, surveying and mapping engineering college, architecture and design college, management college, science college, foreign languages college, software vocational and technical college, humanities and social sciences department, physical education department, computer basic teaching center, engineering training center, continuing education college and national defense education. There are 42 undergraduate majors in civil engineering, water conservancy and hydropower engineering, resource exploration engineering, electrical engineering and its automation, mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation, and engineering management, and there are 1 1 specialties.

The school attaches great importance to the leading and promoting role of teaching research and teaching reform in teaching work.
