Keywords: vocational colleges; Librarian; Professional quality

Librarians in higher vocational colleges shoulder the functions of information service and document delivery, and play different roles in their respective posts. According to statistics, there are more than 1 000 vocational colleges in China with more than 8 million students, but the service effect and satisfaction are not satisfactory. The author thinks that only by strengthening the construction of librarian team and improving the professional quality of librarians can higher vocational college libraries play a better role and serve readers better.

First, the professional quality of librarians

Professional quality refers to the code of conduct, basic connotation and personal ability in a certain industry, which is manifested as the comprehensive quality of individuals and teams in the professional process, including the ethics, skills, behavior, style and consciousness of the industry, as well as the improvement of time management ability, effective communication ability, teamwork ability, professionalism and team spirit.

1. Professional quality of librarians in higher vocational colleges. Professional accomplishment mainly includes four main aspects: professional ethics, professional consciousness, professional skills and professional behavior habits. Refers to the professional code of conduct that needs to be observed. It is manifested in the inherent professionalism and professional belief, and externalized as the pursuit and cultivation of professional ability and professional skills. It is characterized by the formation of professional identity, professional core value system and professional competitiveness. The professional quality of librarians in higher vocational colleges, that is, their professional beliefs and value pursuit in the process of book management, is a comprehensive quality formed through long-term practice.

2. The status quo of professional literacy of librarians in higher vocational colleges. At present, there is no professional qualification certification and no complete and mature professional qualification standard system in the library industry. There is no clear definition and grasp of the standards and scales that professional skills should reach. The vague status quo of industry standardization and professionalization leads librarians to have a vague understanding of professional literacy and can't define their own professional core skills and core competitiveness. Under this background, the professional quality of librarians in higher vocational colleges is not optimistic. Due to the influence of the external environment, the professional concept of librarians has been shaken, which leads to negative work, some of them are doing business outside, which affects their work and has low service efficiency. At the same time, the responsibility in management is unclear and the system is chaotic. Coupled with the influence of external environment and economic interests, it has profoundly affected the stability of librarians in higher vocational colleges.

Second, vocational college librarians should have the professional quality

Generally speaking, librarians in higher vocational colleges are relatively complicated and the personnel structure is not reasonable, but they should have the most basic professional qualities in any case, including the following aspects:

1. Comprehensive organizational management ability. In the process of borrowing books, librarians should strengthen readers' reading awareness, introduce library rules and regulations to readers, and let readers have a good reading mentality and study with love for reading. In terms of management and organization, librarians should have the corresponding ability to restrain themselves and readers, and set a series of goals for the library according to the actual needs of readers, organize the contents of the library together and share them with readers through the network, so that readers can consult books and related contents and knowledge purposefully when borrowing.

2. Have the ability to use modern information technology. Knowing and mastering modern information acquisition and application skills can use modern information technology to push information, which is convenient for readers to read and saves readers' time. At the same time, it is necessary to have a strong ability of information collection, sorting, analysis and mining, and be able to classify and package the information that readers are interested in and push it to readers, which is convenient for readers to read and more conducive to librarians' autonomous learning.

3. Professional quality. The library has a very rich collection of books and a lot of content. Librarians cover a wide range of disciplines, requiring professional knowledge of related disciplines, guiding readers to find foreign languages, and being proficient in computers and library information. Nowadays, with the development of information technology, it is more convenient and fast to obtain information and knowledge through the network. Librarians should not only be able to obtain information by digging up resource books in their own libraries, but also be able to discover information resources in the network.

Thirdly, the ways for librarians to improve their professional quality.

Library is the service window of colleges and universities, showing the quality and service attitude of service personnel in colleges and universities, and is the representative of the service window of colleges and universities. The exertion of librarian's quality affects the quality of teachers in the whole school. The development of library and school is closely related, and librarians need to constantly improve themselves and their work skills to serve the development of school.

1. Renew the concept and strengthen the service connotation. Libraries in higher vocational colleges must renew their concepts, and leaders and librarians at all levels should attach importance to document services, create rich resources and service places for readers, and become educational and leisure institutions that readers are willing to come and cannot live without. Fully embody the professional characteristics and depth in the service, build your own core competitiveness and brand, and complete the overall improvement of scientific research, teaching and education.

2. Strengthen systematic training. The construction of librarian team is the biggest problem faced by the library. It is necessary to strengthen the overall service ability of librarians, and adopt systematic and step-by-step skills training in a planned way, such as export training, on-the-job training, bringing the old with the new or lectures on resource utilization. , improve the ability of all aspects.

3. Implement the incentive mechanism. In order to get rid of the current situation of overstaffed librarians in higher vocational colleges, we should introduce incentive mechanism, improve assessment standards, conduct regular spot checks, rotate all the staff to be eliminated last, and enhance performance rewards.

4. Reader evaluation participates in librarian performance management. Take comprehensive evaluation methods such as online voting and WeChat voting to openly and fairly let readers participate in the performance management of librarians.

To improve the professional quality of librarians in higher vocational colleges, librarians need to constantly learn from themselves, communicate with their peers, learn from the work experience of foreign librarians, and more importantly, need the trust and encouragement of schools and readers. In this way, the professional knowledge and service skills of librarians can be continuously improved, and the service work is more and more in place and the work is more and more colorful.
