Huang Beijia was born in Rugao, Jiangsu. Literary works were published in 1973. 1982 graduated from Chinese Department of Peking University, majoring in literature. 1984 became a professional writer of Jiangsu Writers Association. Now he is a member of the National Committee of Chinese Writers Association, vice chairman of Jiangsu Writers Association and director of the studio.

His major works include the novel Carnival in the Night, New Gone with the Wind, The Process of Marriage, Eyes as Transparent, Parker's Revolver, The Body Without a Name, All, and collections of short and medium-length works such as The Water's Edge, This Moment is So Brilliant, Please Walk with Me, Dance of the Rattan, and Rose.

The main children's literature works include the novel I want to be a good boy, Today I am a standard bearer, I fly, a wandering dog, Kissing my mother, a chime in the distance, and a collection of short stories, Ship, Ship, There is a Sea Far Away, When the Reed Flowers Fly and China Fairy Tales. His works have won dozens of provincial literary awards, such as the National Excellent Children's Literature Award, the "Five One Project" Award of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China, the National Excellent Children's Literature Book Award, the Bingxin Children's Literature Award and the Soong Ching Ling Children's Literature Award. Movies, TV plays and dramas adapted from these works won the Golden Box Award, the China Film Observation Award, the Flying Award of Chinese TV plays and so on at the International TV Festival. Many works have been translated into French, German, Russian, Japanese and Korean for publication.
