Nanjing Normal University, referred to as Nanjing Normal University for short, is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It was jointly built by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China People and Ministry of Education. It is the first batch of national "2 1 1 project" key construction universities and national "double first-class" world-class discipline construction universities.

The library of Nanjing Normal University was established on 1952 by mobilizing the books and periodicals collected by the former Nanjing Normal University and Jinling University on the basis of the former Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences.

The whole library has formed a distribution pattern of three districts and seven libraries: Suiyuan Library (Literature Library) and Huaxia Library (Education Library) in Suiyuan Campus; Zijin Library of Zijin Campus (Engineering Library); Xianlin Campus Wen Jing Library (General Library), Social Science Library (including dense shelves), Mathematics and Physics Library and Shengdi Library.
