The Historical Evolution of China Library Association
Associations were established in 1929 (Nanjing), 1933 (Beiping), 1936 (Qingdao), 1938 (Chongqing), 1942 (Chongqing) and/kloc-. Two publications, Library Science Quarterly (1926 ~ 1937) and Journal of library society of china (1925 ~ 1948), were edited and published, and Bibliography Series, General Report of China Library and Library were published. The Association investigated the development of libraries in China, provinces, major cities and middle schools, as well as bookstores, new books, periodicals, rare books and printed literature. 1925 jointly organized a summer school with Southeast University and China Vocational Education Society to train library professionals. It is one of the initiators of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). It sent people to attend the inaugural meeting of 1927 IFLA, the international conferences on library and bibliography of 1929 and 1936, and sent representatives to Britain, the United States and other countries to attend the IFLA annual meeting. China Library Association also organized international book exchange activities.
