The History of Modern International Relations is a book published by Fudan University Press in July 2002 1. The author is Tang Xianxing. Based on the evolution of international relations system, the evolution of modern international relations history can be divided into Westphalia system, Vienna system, Bismarck system, bipolar system before World War I, Versailles Washington system after World War II and Yalta system after World War II. This paper analyzes the basic contents, essential characteristics, main contradictions, changes in relations between major powers and the differentiation and combination of basic forces in international relations. The narrative and analysis in this book are appropriate, the structure is reasonable, the level is clear and the logic is coherent. Based on the existing research results of the history of international relations, this paper makes a unique analysis and evaluation on some theoretical and practical problems in the history of international relations.
The main purpose of the history of modern international relations is to examine the history of modern international relations from the perspective of the world system, explore the interactive process between the world system and the history of modern international relations, and strive to provide a brand-new method and vision for the study of the history of modern international relations, and construct a framework of the history of modern international relations with the world system as the main line. This book is different from the general history of international relations, but considers history from a systematic perspective and discusses the interactive relationship between the history of international relations and the world system. In order to help more people understand these ideas, in the appendix, in addition to listing the bibliography of references, a brief discussion of key references is added, and some academic works are briefly introduced, most of which are the research results of foreign scholars. In order to give readers a clear context, the history of modern international relations has designed the Evolution of the World System: Historical Chronology in the appendix for readers' reference.
