Looking through my notes, I saw a sentence from Woolf: "Every woman should have her own study".

This seemingly ordinary sentence may not be shocking at the moment, but back to the social environment where Wu Chan's father lived at that time, you can imagine the courage and pioneering feeling of saying this sentence. Even, we can regard this sentence as an important symbol of female consciousness awakening.

Reading, gradually moving from aristocratic activities to civilians; The subject of reading has gradually changed from aristocrats and men to ordinary people and the public, especially women.

Reading is an intellectual right. Most knowledge structures are constructed by reading.

The era of reading popularization has brought enlightenment in a universal sense. Enlightenment, as Kant said, is "having the courage to use one's own reason" to "get rid of the immature state imposed on oneself".

Wu Chan-fu advocates that women have their own study. Then we can't help asking, as a public space, what are the similarities and differences between public libraries and study rooms?

Recently, I watched a video open class in the library. The biggest experience is not only high efficiency, but also a sense of bondage hidden behind it. Public space, as an individual in it, needs to consider the interests of the public, so it needs to choose to suppress some of its behaviors. For example, don't make any noise, but "sit in a sitting position." These are the rules of the social environment. In Foucault's sense, we can regard it as a kind of "discipline" of society to people. This kind of discipline is the best way to kill a person's personality and independent will.

While reading in the study, wandering around alone, regardless of the consequences, is often an opportunity to maximize creativity.

In addition, the "conversion cost" in the study is relatively low, so it is very convenient to obtain and read books, and these books are carefully selected by individuals, which will greatly improve the search efficiency.

The efficiency of self-study in the library is brought by laws and regulations, and the efficiency of reading in the study is brought by personality.

Seeking the balance between statute and personality is the only way to maximize creativity.

Many senior managers have their own independent offices, and a big consideration is the exertion and convenience of "creativity" to produce reasonable "decisions".

In order to give full play to the creativity of employees, companies such as Google and facebook have also created an extremely free working environment. Of course, the system must go first. In other words, the guarantee of a free working environment is the system and corporate culture behind it. Ideas are very important.

So, I dug up a previous article, which was written in a bookstore called the Second Study.

I think the idea is probably similar to mine. Building a bookstore into a "second study" other than the "first study" (the study at home) is an open understanding of public space.

In the film A Beautiful Mind, johnf nash and his students in his later years discuss problems in the library of Princeton University, which is an excellent interpretation of the functions of the library.

Next time, we must make good use of the reader discussion room in our library.

Regarding the discussion, in fact, libraries, living rooms and cafes are typical western scenes.

Living room discussion, there is a well-known name among nobles called "salon" In fact, the word "salon" comes from the French word "living room". At that time, ladies would meet some celebrities, writers and artists in the living room regularly to discuss some issues. This is the origin of "Salon".

Cafe, at that time, was an excellent place for writers and artists to write, discuss and read their works.

So there is the famous saying: "I am not in the cafe, I am on my way to the cafe."
