Since 1990s, Shangyu Library has been awarded the title of Red Flag Unit by Shangyu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for two consecutive years, 1995 was renamed as a civilized library by the Provincial Department of Culture, 1996 was awarded as a civilized unit by Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and 1999 was awarded as a national first-class library by the Ministry of Culture.
