The development of history

The School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing University established the Korean (Korean) major in 2006, and began enrolling students in September of the same year. As early as the 1940s, Nanjing began Korean language and literature education. 1946 In February, the National Institute of Oriental Languages opened the Korean Department for the first time in China, and moved from Chongqing to Nanjing in the summer of the same year. Professor Kim, former president of Korea University, once taught here, and trained the first generation of Korean talents and experts on Korean Peninsula issues for China. During his teaching at the National Institute of Oriental Languages, Mr. Jin studied the modern history of China at the Graduate School of National Central University, the predecessor of Nanjing University, and later became a famous historian and educator, winning the first batch of Chinese language and cultural friendship awards.

On March 20 10, Nanjing University officially approved the establishment of the Korean Studies Research Center led by our major, which will unite the teaching and research strength of Nanjing University in Korean studies and further improve the level and quality of Korean studies in China.

After development, Korean (Korean) major now has a high-level teaching staff, including professors (1, literature major), associate professors (3, linguistics, literature, history and culture major) and lecturers (1, linguistics major), all of whom have doctoral degrees, and most of them graduated from famous Korean universities. Undergraduate teaching

The undergraduate teaching of Korean (Korean) major takes "high quality, strong foundation and emphasis on practice" as the guiding ideology, and pays attention to cultivating students' language application ability and realistic and innovative ability. At the same time, in order to make students better adapt to the globalization context of today's era, we should pay attention to cultivating students' comprehensive humanistic quality and international thinking. The main courses include reading, speaking, writing, translation, interpretation, economic and trade Korean, Korean literature, Korean culture, Korean general history, Sino-Korean exchange history and so on.

international communication

Korean (Korean) majors actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation, and actively use Korean educational resources to take the road of internationalization. At present, it has signed student exchange agreements with famous Korean universities such as Korea University, Xijiang University, Renhe University, Kyung Hee University and Jianguo University. All of them are sent to Korean universities every year, and the proportion of international exchanges is the highest in the whole school, reaching 100%. So far, all the students of Grade 2006 and Grade 2007 have gone to Korean universities to study for one year or one semester before returning to China, and all the students of Grade 2008 will go abroad next semester.

Korean (Korean) major has received strong support from all walks of life in Korea since its establishment. Korea International Exchange Foundation, Korea Dashan Culture Foundation, Society of Literature and Intellectuals, Creation and Criticism and other groups donated a large number of books and materials for the construction of this major. From June 5438 to February 2008, after fierce competition in the world, my major was successfully awarded the "Key Base Project of Overseas Korean Studies Teaching and Research" by the Central Korean Studies Institute. The project aims to select world-famous universities, give key support and cultivate world-famous Korean studies research bases. The annual funding amount is 654.38 billion won, and the funding period is five years.

The development of Korean (Korean) major has also been strongly supported by Korean enterprises in Nanjing. For example, Korean companies such as Korea Xixing Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. and Korea Space Purification Equipment Co., Ltd. set up special scholarships for students majoring in Korean (Korean). At present, the types and proportion of students in my major who enjoy high scholarships are among the best in all majors in the school.

Graduation destination

In the summer of 2009, Korean majors came into contact with Korean companies of Ningda, such as LG, as internship units for students of 2006, which laid a certain employment foundation for graduates of this level. At present, the first undergraduate graduate of my major has left school. Except for those who have obtained postgraduate degrees to study abroad, other students have gone to large Korean companies in China, such as Samsung and LG, as well as domestic banks and institutions, and achieved 100% employment.

Future prospects

Korean (Korean) major, as a newly-built major, has the advantage of being a latecomer. With the increasingly close political, economic and cultural exchanges between China and South Korea, Korean (Korean) major has good development prospects and stable social needs.

On the one hand, Nanjing University offers Korean undergraduate major to cultivate high-quality foreign language talents who are familiar with Korean history and culture and can skillfully use Korean; On the other hand, it is also an opportunity to study Korean language and culture. After several years of construction, a new discipline of Korean studies has been developed, an academic echelon has been formed, and a number of influential academic research achievements have been introduced, which has promoted the academic and cultural exchanges between China and South Korea.
