Library, information and archives management are national key disciplines, and Wuhan University ranks first in the country.

The predecessor of this major is Wuchang Wenhua Library College founded by American scholar Wei Dihua in 1920, which is the birthplace of library science education in China. In 2007, this major was once again rated as a national key discipline, and this major was selected by the Ministry of Education as the "National Specialty Construction Point of Colleges and Universities" and "Undergraduate Brand Specialty of Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province".

Wuhan University held several conferences on library science. If students choose this major, the employment is still quite good, at least they don't worry about the employment problem.
