Cai Zefeng presided over the design, which was completed in September 1933. Imitate European Gothic architectural style, reinforced concrete structure. The design is novel, the scale is grand, the building is firm and the appearance is magnificent. The stack room adopts steel column double-sided bookshelves, and the basement is equipped with disinfection and sanitation facilities such as steam toilets. At that time, it was the largest library in Central China and South China, and it was also called the three major buildings of Hunan University with the Second Academy and the Science Museum.
