1950 merged with the library of China-France University and was named north university of china Institute of Technology Library.
1952 changed its name to the library of Beijing University of Technology, and1988 changed its name to beijing institute of technology library in May.
The new building was built at 1983. Comrade Zhang Aiping, the revolutionary strategist of the older generation in China, personally wrote the name of the building.
The existing building area of the library is 1 45 1 41m2, with a closed bookshelf structure, with a total of 4,429 m2 of main stacks and sub stacks, which can accommodate books110,000 volumes and periodicals110,000 volumes. The reading room is 2266 square meters, 1200 reading seats.
By the end of 2002, the library had accumulated more than1.4000 books (pieces), including 769000 books, 0/.2800 periodicals and 0/.4500 other documents (pieces). There are more than 2500 newspapers and periodicals ordered every year.
The library not only provides many services such as document borrowing, reference consultation, copying and re-recording, but also offers document retrieval courses to explain the knowledge of document retrieval to all teachers and students. In order to expand the collection resources, we have established interlibrary loan relations with other institutions.
