First, the professional setting
Chongqing Petroleum Institute was founded in 195 1, formerly known as "Southwest Petroleum Institute". 1953, national education was adjusted to a technical secondary school. 1994 was approved by the Ministry of Education and China Petroleum and Natural Gas Corporation and upgraded to a junior college. 1998 was selected by the Ministry of Education as a national key construction school for exemplary colleges and universities. The school now has five departments and three departments, including petroleum engineering department, mechanical and electrical engineering department, construction engineering department, business administration department, public administration department, basic education department, social science teaching department and adult education department, with 5500 students. Geology and mineral resources belong to the petroleum engineering department.
Department of Petroleum Engineering 1994 was upgraded to a junior college, which was composed of the original geology specialty, drilling specialty and production and transportation specialty. In just a few years, we have made gratifying achievements in building national and provincial (ministerial) demonstration majors, changing educational concepts, cultivating applied talents, teacher training, scientific research and cooperative education, and accumulated experience in running schools suitable for our own characteristics.
In terms of specialty setting, in order to adapt to the needs and changes of the job market, the mode of wide specialty enrollment and training in different directions is generally adopted. At present, the Department of Petroleum Engineering has three major majors and eight training directions, which is jointly organized with Chongqing University as an undergraduate major, in which oil and gas exploitation engineering is a national key demonstration major, and drilling technology and oil and gas gathering and transportation are pilot majors in the educational reform of the Ministry of Education (table 1).

Second, personnel training.
1. Register
Students come from 26 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China. Before 1993, it was the national plan to enroll students. From 1993, it is divided into two parts: national task enrollment and transfer plan enrollment. 1997, parallel admission. With the expansion of enrollment in recent years, the number of students enrolled has increased steadily (Table 2). Considering the reorganization of petroleum and petrochemical industry and the great employment pressure of geological students, the major of resource exploration engineering was suspended for two sessions in 1996 and 2000.

2. Talent cultivation
As a college-level school, students are at an obvious disadvantage in the job market competition. However, under the guidance of the school's teaching philosophy of "laying a solid foundation, strengthening practice, highlighting skills, cultivating ability, improving quality, and creating characteristics", the training goal is to cultivate technical application-oriented and management-oriented talents in the front line of production. Relying on the training center and vocational skill appraisal institute, the "double-certificate system" is implemented, requiring students to obtain not only the academic certificate stipulated by the state, but also the vocational grade certificate recognized by the state, which is recognized by the employer.
3. Student employment
At present, the main employment direction of petroleum engineering graduates is still the petroleum and petrochemical industry. However, with the reform of the education system, the school turned to local management, and also opened the professional direction of petroleum and petrochemical industry and local service. The employment rate was 100% before 1998 and after 1998. Except for 1999 and a few students who were unemployed once in 2000, the rest remained at 100%, which was in short supply (see Table 3).

Third, school performance.
1. Deliver a large number of specialized technical and management talents for the production line.
Together with 8398 college graduates (949 junior college students) trained for the petrochemical industry during the technical secondary school, we also cooperated with Chongqing University to train 18 undergraduates. Graduates are all over the country, working hard in the front line of petrochemical industry, loving their jobs and selfless dedication, and are widely praised. Most of them become technical backbones and managers at the grass-roots level, and many of them become party and government leaders, technical backbones, model workers, rising stars in science and technology, doctoral tutors and experts enjoying special government allowances.
2. Have a team of high-quality teachers.
In order to meet the needs of higher vocational education, the construction of teachers focusing on youth has been strengthened. On the one hand, send 6 doctors and 9 masters to universities at home and abroad; On the other hand, teachers are sent to production units to practice engineering environment, so that teachers have "double-qualification". At present, there are 39 full-time teachers, including 6 professors, 20 associate professors, 6 doctors and 2 masters/kloc-0 (table 4), forming a team of teachers with solid professional knowledge, rich practical experience, strong teaching ability and high scientific research level.

Scientific research has made a good start.
Scientific research is a place to improve teachers' professional quality and reflect their ability to solve practical problems, which greatly promotes the improvement of teaching level. Although the start was difficult, after several years of tempering, substantial progress has been made. At present, 4 provincial (ministerial) projects and 32 horizontal cooperation projects have been completed, with a contract amount of more than 4.5 million yuan. Among them, it won the first prize 1, the second prize 1 and the third prize at the provincial (ministerial) level.
4. Cooperation in running schools and training has achieved results.
The school belongs to local management, but the petroleum engineering department is still connected with the petrochemical industry, and serving the petroleum and petrochemical industry is still an advantage, so there is a close cooperative relationship in cooperative education and training. In cooperative education, cooperative education agreements have been signed with some oil companies. Enterprises provide conditions for students' internships, teachers' practical exercises and financial assistance to poor students, and schools provide convenience for enterprises to transport outstanding graduates and train employees. In terms of training, there are IADC Chongqing Well Control Training Center, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Training Center and Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute. IADC Training Center is the first authorized training center in China. In recent years, 30 well control training courses for overseas personnel have been held successively, with nearly 800 trainees, and HSE training course 18 has been held, with more than 800 trainees, creating economic benefits of more than 4 million yuan.
Fourth, the advantages and characteristics of running a school
More than 50 years of school-running practice has accumulated rich experience in training and producing front-line technical and management talents in hard industries. The achievements of running a school have been widely recognized by the society. The development of western China, the construction and development of Chongqing, and the prosperity of petroleum and petrochemical industry provide a broad development space for the school. The cultivation of talents has formed three characteristics, namely, politically, students are always inspired by the "Hongyan Spirit" and "Daqing Spirit" and are determined to add luster to the motherland, petroleum and the school; In terms of technology application, it attaches importance to the foundation, strengthens practice, guides innovation, and faces the grassroots, and is praised as a "trustworthy product" by the employer; Management needs a skill to inspire, infect and unite people with positive self-entertainment in a difficult environment.
Verb (abbreviation of verb) the idea of future architecture
In the professional reform and construction, on the one hand, we should gain a foothold in the petroleum and petrochemical market and become a base for cultivating talents for the petroleum and petrochemical industry; On the other hand, relying on the development opportunities of Chongqing and the west, we should create local characteristics and urgently needed majors and actively explore the local talent market. At the level of personnel training, relying on the advantages of national demonstration majors and teachers, we will continue to cooperate with other universities to run undergraduate education. In terms of school-enterprise cooperation, on the existing basis, adhere to the road of complementary advantages and mutual benefit.
