Since the 1980s, he has edited the couplets "The Height of Several Levels" and compiled a large collection of couplets of 16 and120,000 words. Nearly 6000 couplets were created.

On the research of system theory, he wrote many articles on couplets, about 800,000 words.

His thesis absorbed the essence of predecessors' theories, inherited the style of study of "boldly assuming and carefully verifying" of the sages of Peking University, made great efforts to master and carefully select materials, and made every effort to make a comprehensive, objective and rational analysis from argument to argument, so as to make the internal logic of his reasoning as tight as possible and stand the test of time.

From 65438 to 0969, Gu Xiangyang stayed at Peking University after graduation until he became a professor of Oriental Department. For 45 years, he has been keen on exploring and studying China couplets and calligraphy. The author saw a self-written couplet: "Professor Gandang is willing to turn spring mud into flowers because of preaching", which is his true self-portrayal. During his school days, he taught couplets, calligraphy and other traditional cultural courses, and taught students from Peking University, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Egypt, the United States, Britain, France and other countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States, and worked hard to cultivate many students, which can be said to be all over the world.

His calligraphy stems from his long-term contact with the cultural atmosphere of Peking University, from his erudition and from his love for the art of couplets. The result is rich and comprehensive, forming elegant, elegant, ethereal and harmonious artistic features, and the comfortable and pleasant book style is quickly infected and magnetized. In particular, reading his self-written ink, the book is rich in literature and pleasing to the eye. The more you appreciate, the more relaxed and happy you feel, and the more you appreciate, the more memorable you feel.

Looking for the "coordinates" of China's couplets

—— Remember Professor Peking University and Gu Xiangyang, Vice President of China Couplet Society.

The establishment of a new theory is compared to the origin of coordinates under the fog by the academic circles. Wang Keyu, a scholar, believes that Gu Xiangyang devoted himself to the ancient art of couplets in order to inherit and carry forward the traditional culture of China, and worked tirelessly for decades to find "coordinates" for the cultural system of couplets. With perseverance, he performed his colorful life in the art world of couplets.

Couplets, also known as couplets or couplets, are antithetical sentences written on paper, cloth or engraved on bamboo, wood and columns. They are concise, profound, neat and even, and are a unique artistic form of Chinese language. According to legend, couplets originated from Meng Changjun, the master of Shu after the Five Dynasties, and are the cultural treasures of the Chinese nation. Our life has never left the couplet, although no one doubts that it is "a small article, but it tells the question of the university." As the saying goes, "There are two lines that support the sky and lean on the ground, and a paragraph is hidden in the past." But as long as you pay a little attention, you will find that couplets are like a pebble in a huge cultural system, and they have never found their proper position for many years.

At present, Gu Xiangyang, vice-president of China Couplet Association, director of the Calligraphy Art Committee and vice-president of Peking University Calligraphy Association, is nearly seventy years old and loves couplets all his life. He walked alone in the text, only one ink, one inkstone and one paper. In the past 40 years, he has been devoted to the ancient art of couplets. He is persistent, intoxicated and obsessed. He collected 16 couplets, created more than 6,000 couplets, and studied and wrote more than 800,000 words of theoretical articles. ...

Gu Xiangyang's couplets pay attention to balance and harmony, with neat antithesis, vivid rhetoric, ingenious refinement, strong classical humanistic atmosphere, elegance and novelty, which must be published. The couplets he wrote in ink are rare calligraphy works, which are praised by experts and many collectors, such as Yunbu Bridge on Mount Tai: Waterfall Xie Yun Bridge and Xiansuo Brocade; Hanging jade in the air, descending stairs, etc.

1965, Gu Xiangyang was admitted to Peking University. He likes to visit the famous mountains and rivers of the motherland. When going out to play, he was attracted by the scenic spots in the garden and a couplet in the ancient temple, especially the profound cultural connotation of the couplet on Mount Tai, which made him linger. Perhaps out of subconscious love, he recorded all the beautiful couplets he saw, and recorded dozens of books for more than a year. He was shocked by the profound cultural charm of couplets, and since then he has had an indissoluble bond with couplets.

From 65438 to 0970, Gu Xiangyang graduated and stayed in school, focusing on couplets and calligraphy, and few people studied it. From then on, he began to collect, sort out, explore and study couplets. After work, he traveled all over the major libraries in Beijing, and almost rummaged through all the books on couplets. Copy what you can, copy what you can't. These materials are packed in a big sack. While collecting information, he systematically sorted out the compilation. He also used business trips or winter and summer vacations to visit various places, compile famous couplets, visit local celebrities, scholars, monks and Taoists, and collect stories and legends related to couplets. Every trip is full of food. Faced with hundreds of thousands of couplets collected, this is a huge project: identifying, classifying and annotating ... I don't know how many nights I worked until dawn and how many weekends I forgot to faint.

Gu Xiangyang found in his research that couplets are a unique literary form in China and a unique literature of the Chinese nation. Couplet culture is a very penetrating culture, which is not only closely related to people's lives, but also deeply loved by literati. Because it permeates all aspects of social life, it can continue continuously, with a history of more than 1000 years. Due to various reasons, couplets, an excellent traditional culture, have long been excluded from the literary palace and are facing the crisis of being lost. With the sense of responsibility and urgency of China's outstanding intellectuals, Gu Xiangyang entrusted himself with a mission: to excavate, sort out and study China's couplets culture in a "rescue" way, and to build China's couplets cultural system building with himself as the cornerstone. After mastering a large number of couplets, analyzing, sorting and classifying them, Gu Xiangyang, based on the contemporary leading theory, learned from others' strengths, persevered, studied them intensively and learned from others' strengths. After years of unremitting efforts, the publication of China scenery couplets grand view, China store couplets integration, China couplets ceremony, couplets ceremony and Introduction to China couplets finally made the ancient couplets art out of the fog, out of the "country road" and out of the shadow of riddles and drunkenness. For the first time, it really found its own home and foothold in theory and cultural status. Ma Xiaoxiao, the founder of China couplets Society and a famous couplets scientist, couldn't restrain his inner joy and spoke highly of it: "This is a classic that can best represent China's modern couplets theory, inherit the development tradition and surpass innovation, which laid the foundation for the construction of modern couplets architecture and played a role in the history of couplets development."

Bao Jianfeng was honed. Gu Xiangyang's outstanding academic achievements in the field of couplets. As an independent literary genre, antithesis and unity with the beauty of content and form create the beauty of harmony. Since 1970, he has created and been invited to write scenic spots couplets, various inscribed couplets, wedding couplets, birthday couplets, celebration couplets, industry departments couplets, halls and bedrooms couplets, aphorisms couplets, impromptu couplets, Zen couplets, inscribed couplets, Spring Festival couplets, elegiac couplets and so on. His couplets are rich in connotation, high in taste, fresh and healthy, elegant and unique, and unique in charm. Whether describing or chanting things, writing scenery or expressing feelings, expressing ambition or reasoning, Gu Xiangyang is comfortable, relaxed, cutting people, cutting things, cutting feelings, leaving no trace, and embedding in nature.

Today, Gu Xiangyang's calligraphy works have been included in more than 50 albums. His fame has spread all over the world. Scholars invited to visit eight countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, Canada and Thailand held solo exhibitions, series exhibitions and couplets calligraphy art exchange exhibitions, which promoted the charm of couplets calligraphy art in the motherland and built a bridge for cultural and artistic exchanges between the East and the West. This is unprecedented and has greatly promoted the long and splendid culture, history and civilization of the Chinese nation.

Nowadays, people pay more and more attention to couplets. After retirement, Gu Xiangyang is still full of energy. As he said in the book Jiang Shuhuai, frost has been added to the temple in recent years. Be strong if you are not fat. Fu yinshi is right, remembering vicissitudes of life. Spit ink to express your feelings, remember your heart and be busy. Fame and fortune are indifferent and open-minded. What's wrong with being wild? Spring silkworms spin silk, and the afterheat is accompanied by the sunset. Trouble, happiness, honor and disgrace, a drop of water, meet the sea, meet the river.
