Henan Polytechnic University (HPU), located in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, is a characteristic backbone university co-founded by the central and local governments and mainly managed by local governments. The predecessor of the school is Jiaozuo Road and Mine School, which was founded by British Fu Company on 1909. In 2004, it was renamed as Henan Polytechnic University after the historical periods of Fuzhong Mining School, Fuzhong Mining Institute, Fuzhong Mining University, private Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, National Northwest Institute of Technology, National Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, Jiaozuo Mining Institute and Jiaozuo Institute of Technology.
