The land in front of Macao Peak was called Mopan Mountain in ancient times. Although this area is small, it has a quiet and elegant natural environment and rich humanistic and religious landscape. The Dinggang Theatre, Hedong Library, St. Austin Church and St. Joseph Monastery, which are located in front of the post, are masterpieces of combining Chinese and western cultures, and belong to the oldest western-style buildings in Macao's world cultural heritage.
Hong Kong Theatre is the first Western-style theatre in China. It was built in 1860 to commemorate King Peter V of Portugal. It was originally called Peter V Theatre. The completion of the theater has added a movie screening space to the land of China. The first performance of Puccini's famous opera Madame Butterfly in Asia was held here. It is said that the scene was unprecedented and became a beautiful talk at that time.
In the morning, I strolled here from Sofitel Sixteen Stores Hotel and walked into the small courtyard of the theater. The green leaves swept by tall trees come into view, and eight white striped columns support the triangular lintel facade of neoclassicism. The theater is suitable for small indoor music performances. At the beginning, there was only the main part. 1873, colonnade, arcade and neoclassical triangle lintel are added in front of the entrance.
Dinggang Theater has been repaired many times and closed for nearly 20 years due to termite erosion. During the maintenance period of 1993 and 200 1 year, the original appearance of the building was maintained. The European Theatre Building of Dinggang Theatre is the only one in Macau and the oldest in the South China Sea.
The lobby on the first floor is spacious and elegant, and the theater is crescent-shaped, with about 200 or 300 red velvet soft seats. The stage of Ding Gang Theatre is higher than the audience seats. In fact, this design does not conform to the design concept of modern stage. According to the orchestra, there was a proposal to lower the stage during the maintenance, but in order to keep the original appearance to the greatest extent, this proposal was rejected and the theater was finally "maintained as usual".
It is said that sitting in the front row of the theater, you can hear the clear sound of musical instruments and feel the perfect harmony on the second floor. The overall sound effect of the theater is very ideal. I really want to sit down and listen to a perfect musical and my ears will be filled with happiness.
Walking out of the theater and standing in front of the post, we can see all the "world cultural heritages" around us: "Garden Library" Hedong Library, and St. Joseph's convent known as "Shaolin Temple Monk". Connected by wavy gravel roads, it has become a unique European community.
The long steep lane extends upward, and the nine Roman arched dark green louver French windows along the lane not only highlight the effect of the main roof, but also show the elegance of simplicity.
Hedong Library was built in 1894 (the 20th year of Guangxu reign). Its original owners were an official and his wife. 19 18 was purchased by Sir Ho Tung, a wealthy businessman in Hong Kong, as a summer house in Macau. During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in World War II (194 1- 1945), Sir He once settled here.
1955, Sir He Dong died. Later, according to his living will, he gave the building and HK$ 25,000 to the Macao government to buy books and open a public library. Hedong Library officially opened to the public on 1958.
Hedong Library is divided into two areas: the old area and the new area. The main building of Old No.1 Middle School is a garden-style building, and its main body is bright and generous goose yellow, giving people a sense of simplicity and elegance. Lou is famous for its collection of China classical literature books, including literature and history books in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, many of which are very precious rare books.
The open front hall and back garden of the building are shaded by trees. The whole building has both the pleasure of being alone in the garden and the convenience of living in the city.
Through the beautiful back garden, we came to the tall building newly built in 2005, which is the largest library building in Macao. This building has advanced facilities and all kinds of books. Readers can roam freely in the sea of knowledge here.
This library is very humanized.
Such a beautiful library, I really want to sit down and choose a good book to comfort my complicated mind.
Most of the high-rise buildings on both sides of the mountain top are old houses. The road in front of the top of the mountain is paved with colored stones, with yellow, green and gray as the main colors, inlaid with exquisite wavy and sunflower patterns, which is ornamental and decorative and pleasing to the eye!
