The research bases of Ship Research Institute include Water Traffic Safety and Environment Research Center, Navigation Simulation and Experiment Center and Crew Training Center.

The Research Center for Water Traffic Safety and Environment is the key discipline construction base of Wuhan University of Technology, including the traffic safety and environment laboratory, the traffic safety guarantee laboratory, the traffic information control laboratory and the newly added ship motion simulation laboratory.

The navigation simulation experiment center has a full-task large-scale ship maneuvering simulation room, a navigation simulator room, a computer simulation room, a ship art training room and a water crew training base.

The above experimental teaching equipment is mainly used for the practical teaching of students and sailors, among which the most advanced NT-PRO4000 full-mission large-scale ship maneuvering simulator, Origin 300 high-performance server for large-scale numerical simulation calculation, integrated intelligent navigation system equipment, marine radar simulator, ECDIS training system and various development software platforms have been widely used for scientific research and postgraduate training. Cultivate high-quality, international navigation technology and management talents who have all-round development in morality, intelligence and physique, received higher education and vocational training for seafarers, and met STCW78/95 international convention and relevant national regulations on crew management. (1) Intensify efforts to build a master's degree program of "Traffic Information Engineering and Control".

(2) Build a doctoral program of "Traffic Information Engineering and Control" with a certain scale.

(3)*** Build a doctoral program of "Ship and Marine Environmental Protection" under the first-level discipline of "Ship and Marine Engineering" in two disciplines, and recruit 3-5 doctoral students.

(4) Add two doctoral programs of "Traffic Safety and Environmental Engineering" under the first-level discipline of "Transportation Engineering".

(5) Recruit 1-2 postdoctoral fellows from the postdoctoral mobile station of "Transportation Engineering".

(6) Joint declaration by the Key Laboratory of "Water Transport and Highway Traffic Safety Equipment and Control Center" of the Ministry of Communications and the National Engineering Center.

2, scientific research and scientific research base construction

Undertake the vertical scientific research project 10- 15, with a fund of 2-3 million RMB, and the horizontal scientific research project1200-150,000 RMB. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the total amount of scientific research funds in a single year will exceed 7-8 million yuan, and horizontal scientific research projects will ensure absolute superiority in inland river-related research fields and radiate the whole country's coastal areas; Published 300-360 academic papers, 40-50 of which were included in the retrieval system; 5- 10 published monographs, translations and textbooks; Won 2-3 awards at or above the provincial level.

Cooperate with the construction of the National Engineering Center, focus on the construction of two in-hospital scientific research bases, namely, the Water Traffic Safety and Environment Research Center and the Navigation Simulation Center, and actively explore the Industry-University-Research base.

3. Construction of teaching staff

We will build an academic echelon from seven research directions: traffic safety and environment, traffic information control, navigation environment and safety guarantee, ship control theory and technology, maritime management and maritime law, navigation simulation technology and application, and intelligent navigation technology, and introduce 2-3 well-known scholars and academic leaders at home and abroad and 5 young and middle-aged academic backbones.

The teacher-student ratio is controlled between 1/20- 1/25.

4. Personnel training

During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, 15-20 doctoral students, 150-200 master students and 1000- 1500 undergraduates were trained. The ratio of graduate students to undergraduates is 1/6. Strive to add an undergraduate major on the basis of the existing two majors. Strive to use English textbooks and English teaching in some professional courses to improve students' professional English application ability; The one-time pass rate of seafarer competency examination for navigation technology students ranks among the best in the country; The employment rate of graduates remains above 95%.

5. Teaching reform and teaching base construction

Vigorously adapt, update and enrich 50% of the existing textbooks, and compile 10- 15 textbooks and handouts, striving for: national planned textbook 1 book, national excellent textbook 1-2 books, and school excellent textbook 4-5 books. On this basis, we will strive to build 1 national excellent courses, 2 provincial excellent courses and 4 school-level excellent courses.

Undertake 12- 15 teaching reform project, and obtain 8- 10 teaching achievement awards at or above the school level. Further enrich and improve the existing experimental equipment, focus on the construction of the National Engineering Center, build directly affiliated teaching practice ships, VTS laboratories and GMDSS laboratories, and carry out the application and development research of simulators. Professional experimental teaching conditions have reached the first-class in China, and some laboratories have reached the international advanced level.

6. Academic exchanges and international cooperation

Organized or co-sponsored international academic conferences 1-2 times, attended international academic conferences 15 times or more, held domestic academic conferences 5-8 times or more, and attended domestic academic conferences 80 times or more. Increase mutual visits and scientific research cooperation with World Maritime University, Norwegian Vestfold University, Tokyo Ocean University and Taiwan Province Ocean University. Strengthen contact with WSTC joint training center and crew training center, and carry out crew training and export of foreign labor services.

7, books and software construction

Combined with the construction of maritime library, the library of shipping college was established by raising funds through various channels. Establish a maritime information consulting service center in combination with the key discipline construction projects of the school.
