The Bund, with a total length of 1.5km, starts from Yannan to Andong Road in the north, reaches Baidu Bridge outside Suzhou Creek in the north, and reaches Huangpu River in the east. The financial and foreign trade institutions of old Shanghai are concentrated in the west. After Shanghai became a commercial port, foreign banks, trading companies, societies and newspapers began to gather here, and the Bund became the financial center of the whole country and even the Far East. In August of the 32nd year of the Republic of China (1943), the Bund was returned to Wang Puppet National Government with the Shanghai Concession, ending the century-old concession period. In the thirty-fourth year of the Republic of China (1945), it was officially named Zhongshan Dongyi Road.
There are 52 classical Renaissance buildings with different styles on the Bund, which is known as the Bund International Architecture Expo. It is an important historical relic and representative building in modern China, and it is also one of the landmark buildings in Shanghai. 1996165438+10, the State Council listed it in the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Lujiazui, Pudong, which faces the Bund across the river, has landmark buildings in Shanghai and the United States, such as the Oriental Pearl, Jinmao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center. This has become the symbol of China and the epitome of Shanghai's reform, opening up and modernization.
On March 20 18, the first side (i.e. the riverside building) was fully promoted, and the second side (i.e. the Bund building without the riverside building) was started simultaneously on the Shanghai Bund.
