Heinz Canis was born on 1960 in the Austrian state of Burgenland. He studied German literature and journalism in Vienna. 1982 became a special staff member of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, producing and hosting programs, and also creating books for children and adults. He has won many literary awards, including the Austrian Children's and Teenagers' Literature Promotion Award, the Vienna Youth Book Award and the Bologna Best Children's Book Award. For Canis, the creation of children's literature is like a gift, which makes him a miracle creator, so his works often pursue a mysterious and wonderful fairy tale world. He hopes to write a book that will satisfy readers aged eight to eighty.
