Brief introduction of Wang Hong's deeds
1980- 1990 wang hong was selected to study in Belgium twice, and obtained master's and doctor's degrees from Free University of Brussels, Belgium. In the past eight years, he studied hard and overcame many difficulties with the desire to master more advanced scientific and technological knowledge and serve the motherland in the future. When I first arrived abroad, he was the only student in my class who came from China. Because I studied Russian before, all the teachers taught in English. At first, I didn't even understand the course. I could only understand a few words when I listened attentively in class. Borrow classmates' notes and study again after class every day. In the final exam of the first academic year, four of the ten courses need to be retaken. In order to improve English as soon as possible, wang hong signed up for an English training class. During that time, he used the time after class to consult his classmates and studied English for three or four hours every night. Although I am very tired, my English level has gradually improved. After solving the language barrier, his solid geological business foundation began to appear. One of the field research sites of his master's thesis is a soil mining site on the border between Belgium and France. Ride a bike to the wild during the day, and live in the library of a small local village at night, with only a camp bed, some blankets and a kettle for boiling water. Under such difficult conditions, he still insisted on doing the field work well. The experience of studying abroad twice not only made him learn advanced geological science knowledge and theory, but also cultivated his will and courage to survive in the wild and overcome difficulties.

1995 when I returned to China for the second time in early 1995, it was a difficult period for the national geological cause, and the research funds were extremely tight. Tianjin Geological Survey Center is at a low tide in all aspects, and the Quaternary research, as one of the characteristics of "one old and one new", is at an extremely difficult stage. Before returning home, wang hong bought a set of manual sampling drills at his own expense of $300. After returning to China, he started his business two years ago with only 30,000 funds for starting overseas students and 20,000 funds for supporting geological research. At that time, the office expenses were very small, and even I had to spend my own money to buy the necessary stationery. It was under such difficult conditions that he United his colleagues and slowly opened up the situation, laying the foundation for the prosperity and development of coastal zone and Quaternary geological research several years later.

In the wild, they once set a record of drilling seven 6-meter full coring holes in a day, dragging mud feet on muddy beaches for 3-4 kilometers until the high tide was waist-high. Especially after the maritime investigation began in 2005, the danger is even more. Because the investigation area includes the intertidal zone near the shore, we can't rent a big boat, but only use a small wooden boat with a length of 10 meter or more. So, from inshore to offshore 30? In the shallow sea area of 40 kilometers, it is common to encounter 5-6 winds and waves. During the investigation 20 kilometers offshore of Mapengkou, the waves were getting higher and higher and it was raining lightly. They urgently recovered their instruments and prepared to return. At that time, if the return berth (300,000-ton oil terminal in South Xinjiang Port) was 30-40 km, even if the Liu Du estuary 10 km, the return time was as long as 3-4 hours, which was very dangerous. In an emergency, I decided to rely on GPS positioning to go to the south Qikou fishing port where the boatman had never been. Another time, during the day, I bypassed the Huanghua Port jetty more than 20 kilometers offshore from south to north in the waters of Dakou River and drilled in the waters of Laolangtuozi. At night, on the dark sea at 10, I completely relied on the GPS coordinates recorded during the day, bypassed the jetty from north to south, and then stayed on the sea 20 kilometers offshore. On another occasion, the young man's engineering ship lost power at night 10 and was blown by strong wind. As it happens, wang hong stayed at the port because of low tide, so he couldn't go to the rescue. The anxiety of being bitten inside is beyond outsiders' comprehension. It was not until the next morning 1 that Wang Hongcai was relieved when the rescue boat approached the offshore 10 km engineering ship and saw everyone. The hard environment enhanced his confidence and courage in his work.

Over the years, wang hong and his scientific research team persisted in seeking truth and being pragmatic, actively explored and focused on innovation, and gradually improved the field work methods in the muddy coastal zone of Bohai Bay, which mainly aimed at finding out the changes of modern coastal geological environment, including artificial shallow coring drilling, leveling, shallow profiler-bathymeter side sonar measurement, sediment sampling and so on. In Tianjin Geological Survey Center, the coastal zone was adjusted in a large scale, AMS 14C dating and 14C data system calibration were carried out, Bohai Bay 14C database was established, Bohai Bay 2 10Pb and 137Cs tracing and modern sedimentation rate investigation were carried out, and oyster reefs were carried out. 13C and 87Sr), which deepened the study of continental strata since the late Pleistocene (eight events of seawater impact enhancement since Holocene and three events since the late Pleistocene were discovered), and started the intertidal zone on the west side of Bohai Bay for the first time? The study of Holocene stratigraphic structure in shallow sea area (divided into five sedimentary units) has trained our own foraminifera, diatom, mollusk and sporopollen appraisers (respectively studied the intertidal zone in the west of Bohai Bay? There are foraminifera, diatoms and molluscs in the shallow sea area, and their roles in rebuilding the ancient environment. Tianjin Geological Survey Center has set up a team engaged in coastal geological survey and research, and established the direction of "Study on the Change and Trend Prediction of Modern Geological Environment in Muddy Coastal Zone" of China Geological Survey, making it an active branch of land and resources survey.

Geological cause is not only the need of human beings to explore nature, but also the need of serving the national and local economic and social development under the new situation, and shoulders the glorious mission of ensuring the sustainable development of the country and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature. In recent years, while completing the national public geological survey, wang hong and his team also actively served the social needs and economic development, and successively undertook the coastal areas of Tianjin in the National Ocean "908" project. Intertidal zone? Investigation of shallow sea area, island survey and evaluation of reserve land resources in intertidal zone, investigation and evaluation of environmental geology in Huanghua Port and its surrounding areas, evaluation of regional geological environment of land reclamation in Nangang of Tianjin Binhai New Area, countermeasures for Tianjin Port to cope with sea level rise and extreme water increase, investigation of live oyster reef in Tianjin sea area, site selection of artificial reef in Tianjin sea area, and re-demarcation of geological exploration of Tianjin ancient coast and wetland national nature reserve have gradually created public welfare geological work for economic and social development. It has made positive contributions to find out the present situation of the coastal geological environment in the west coast of Bohai Bay, to evaluate the geological conditions of reclamation and coastal plain, to prevent storm surge disasters, to evaluate the height of tidal dikes in Tianjin Binhai New Area (and Tianjin Port and Huanghua Port), to develop fishery resources, and to raise the awareness of "harmony between man and nature" among decision makers and the public.

Wang Hong attaches importance to international cooperation in geological science research. We have cooperated with Nibrook University in Si Tong, Coastal Zone Center of US Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Lower Saxony, Leibniz Institute of Applied Geosciences, University of Oldenburg and University of North Carolina to carry out large-scale regional surveys and 2 10Pb and 137Cs dating of argillaceous coastal zone, diatoms and foraminifera, and oyster reef paleontology.

Wang hong pays attention to the cultivation of new forces and strives to push young people to the front line. Pay attention to creating the best possible conditions and environment for colleagues and students, and give enthusiastic support and careful guidance to young people, so that the whole team can become a United scientific research group with lofty goals and can fight tough battles.

Over the years, wang hong has respected colleagues and students, respected the discoveries of others, and United everyone to work together and make progress together. At the same time, share your knowledge with colleagues and young students without reservation. Respect scientific research ethics, fully respect the labor and achievements of others, and provide opportunities for colleagues and students. When publishing a paper with the same name, never use your own identity, but try to keep others in front. As a doctoral supervisor, he has trained more than 10 masters and doctors, including experts in stratigraphic paleontology (foraminifera and diatoms), modern sediment dating (2 10Pb and 137Cs tracing), sedimentology and isotope stratigraphy, among which the research on oyster reefs has reached the world-class level. In the cooperative research of coastal geosciences with Germany, the United States and Portugal, we will actively create conditions for young and middle-aged researchers and encourage them to directly participate in international exchanges. In recent years, young people in his research team have engaged in experimental research and participated in international conferences abroad 1 1 person-times, 1 1 month. According to the plan, four other people will go abroad to carry out cooperative research in the five months this year.

In China 18000 km continental coastline, muddy coastal zone accounts for about one fifth. Muddy coastal areas are the Pearl River Delta, the three metropolises of China. Guangzhou Metropolitan Area and Yangtze River Delta? Shanghai metropolitan area and Tianjin metropolitan area? Binhai New Area, with its superior geographical location, high population density and developed economy, plays an irreplaceable role in the economic and social development of China. On the other hand, compared with sandy and stony coastal zones, the geological and ecological environment of such coastal zones is more fragile, and both the changes of natural factors and the interference of human activities can have obvious effects. In a sense, the environmental geological problems in the important economic zones along the eastern coast of China, including Tianjin Central City and Binhai New Area, are coastal geological problems. Wang hong's geological environment investigation in muddy coastal zone is related to the safety of geological environment, the harmony between man and nature and the sustainable development of economy and society in this important zone. At present, the state attaches great importance to coping with "climate change" as a long-term strategy for national development. The Ministry of Land and Resources also regards "geological record of global change" as a new important task. This new situation made him more aware of the importance of his work. In the future, wang hong is determined to stick to the front line, keep in mind the mission with the whole team, blaze new trails, and make new and greater contributions to China's geological survey and scientific research.
