1 Characteristic Collection Concept of the Library of College of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The characteristic collection of a library refers to the specialization of literature resources and the unique collection system. Including professional characteristics, local characteristics, literary type characteristics and language characteristics. These four aspects do not exist independently, but are interrelated and inclusive. In practical work, the emphasis is just different. For the libraries of traditional Chinese medicine colleges, the professional characteristics are more obvious in the construction of literature resources. Therefore, this paper will mainly focus on this point.

Professional characteristics refer to the characteristics of the tasks undertaken by the library itself and the needs of users, as well as the characteristics formed by purposeful collection of documents within the corresponding professional or disciplinary scope. Therefore, the concept of characteristic collection has three directions in the literature resource system of the library of University of Traditional Chinese Medicine: one is the category of Chinese medicine and non-Chinese medicine; Second, the dominant disciplines in our college, such as doctoral programs, master programs, national (or regional) key disciplines, scientific research bases, etc. Third, disciplines that show great potential and prospects. It is very necessary for the construction of literature resources in the libraries of traditional Chinese medicine colleges to form a characteristic literature guarantee system that focuses on dominant disciplines and gives consideration to general disciplines.

2 The necessity of the construction of characteristic collections in the libraries of Chinese medicine colleges and universities

The construction of characteristic collections is determined by the nature, characteristics and tasks of libraries in Chinese medicine colleges and universities.

The library of TCM colleges and universities belongs to the medical professional library, which has the following characteristics: the library of TCM colleges and universities is the document information center of TCM colleges and universities, an academic institution serving teaching and scientific research, and its work is an important part of teaching and scientific research in TCM colleges and universities. The level of teaching and scientific research in each subject determines the degree of readers' demand for literature information in this major. According to the breadth and depth of readers' needs, it is an important principle to organize literature resources purposefully and rationally allocate collections.

The development of libraries in colleges and universities of traditional Chinese medicine must rely on the financial support of the schools. Rational use of funds to create the best benefits at the lowest cost should be an important topic in modern library management. Specific to the construction of literature resources is to use the funds invested by the school to organize as many valuable literature resources as possible to meet the needs of the vast majority of readers. The construction of characteristic collections is an effective way to solve this problem. Focusing on the professional literature of superior learning materials, literature organization can meet the information needs and reading needs of major readers (key readers) to a certain extent.

3 Construction of characteristic collections in libraries of Chinese medicine colleges and universities

3. 1 Develop a literature resource structure model with the characteristics of our library.

(1) Discipline structure: the specialty is outstanding and the system is complete. Mainly based on traditional Chinese medicine literature, supplemented by relevant professional literature; Clinical medical literature is the main part, supplemented by basic medical literature; Dominant subject literature is the main subject, supplemented by general subject literature.

(2) Hierarchical structure: the literature of dominant disciplines should be collected completely and systematically, reaching the level of complete works or research collections; Focus on collecting documents of general disciplines and related disciplines.

(3) Time structure: Medical literature is aging rapidly, so the collection should be inspected and scrapped according to its use value to ensure its vitality.

(4) Language structure: mainly Chinese documents, while ensuring the proportion of foreign documents, especially English documents and Japanese documents in the collection.

(5) Type structure: diverse. At present, printed monographs, periodicals and special documents are still the main interviewees, and non-printed documents such as e-books and CD-ROM databases should also be collected. In printed literature, the first periodical is guaranteed.

3.2 Determine the dominant disciplines

When the dominant disciplines are determined, the professional characteristics of the library are also determined. Take Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine as an example: With the kind care of Premier Zhou Enlai, our school is one of the four earliest colleges of traditional Chinese medicine established in China. The school, formerly known as Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was founded in 1956. After decades of construction and development, the school has become a multi-disciplinary category of Chinese medicine, including engineering and management. It focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate education, and trains high-quality talents in Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage, integration of traditional Chinese and western medicine, bone injury, facial features, Chinese medicine, pharmaceutical engineering, nursing, management, marketing and Tibetan medicine. This school is one of the first universities in China with the right to confer doctor's and master's degrees in traditional Chinese medicine and a postdoctoral mobile station. It is the first teacher training base recognized by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. It is a national training base for basic scientific research and teaching talents (medicine) of traditional Chinese medicine established by the Ministry of Education. There are 8 doctoral programs, 9 master programs/kloc-0, and 1 postdoctoral mobile station/kloc-0 (Chinese medicine). National key disciplines (traditional Chinese medicine) 1 subject, 6 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 3 national tertiary laboratories and 6 provincial key courses1subject. Our library gives priority to these master's programs, doctoral programs and key disciplines in organizing literature resources, especially ancient books and periodicals. At present, the number of Chinese medicine books in our library is one of the libraries with the largest number and the most complete variety among Chinese medicine universities in China.

3.3 Improve the interview work

The difficulty of the interview work lies not only in the judgment of the document value, but also in the judgment of the document demand. This requires that the interviewer should not only pay attention to the publication information of literature resources, but also communicate with readers in time to have a clear understanding of the scientific research activities of the school. Only by determining the needs of readers can we organize valuable literature resources and provide them to readers, thus effectively serving the development of the school.

3.4 Maintain the collection structure

A scientific collection structure cannot be achieved overnight, nor is it static. This requires managers to organize documents purposefully according to the planning of the library and make appropriate adjustments according to the development and changes of the school.
