Handan, located in the south of Hebei Province, is one of the three major cities in Hebei Province. It is a transportation hub and commodity circulation center city in the border area of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan with a population of more than 40 million. With a population of 9.2 million and a land area of more than 20,000 square kilometers, the city is a mega-city with a population of over one million approved by the State Council, a "national historical and cultural city", one of the "big cities" with independent legislation in China 13, and a "hometown of idioms and allusions" which is well-known at home and abroad. As a place name, the word "Handan" has remained unchanged for three thousand years, which is a legendary special case of China's place name culture. Handan has a long history and rich cultural heritage, and it is also an old revolutionary base area (it was the capital of Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan border region in wartime). It has a good foundation and development prospect in industry, agriculture, tourism, urban construction, commerce and trade.
The industrial structure of Handan City and Hebei Province is being actively adjusted, aiming at reducing the proportion of heavy industry and raw material industry, striving to develop industries such as urban construction, tourism, deep processing of agricultural and mineral products, modern agriculture, microelectronics and photoelectric integration, and gradually changing the mode of economic growth from extensive to intensive. The school was established in June, 1983. At that time, it was named "Handan Vocational University", which was approved by the people's government of Hebei Province and put on record by the Ministry of Education. 1September, 1984, it was renamed as "Handan University", and then Hu Yaobang, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee wrote the name of the school. 1997 according to the spirit of the instructions of the state on vigorously developing higher vocational education, it was renamed as "Handan Vocational and Technical College" with the approval of the former State Education Commission.
The college covers an area of 550,000 square meters, with a building area of 230,000 square meters, total equipment value of 5,009,438+10,000 yuan, and 9,578 full-time students. 12 There are 64 majors in the teaching department, including 2 national teaching reform pilot majors, 5 provincial teaching reform pilot majors and 4 provincial demonstration majors; Provincial excellent courses 10, and 40 school-level excellent courses. 1April, 1984, the school participated in the first inter-school cooperation meeting of China short-term vocational colleges held in Wuhan, and was recommended as the governing unit. 1985 was elected vice president of the association and head of North China film. 1985 presided over the first vocational education seminar in Hebei province. 1987 presided over the first seminar on higher vocational education in North China. In the same year, it became the only higher vocational college in China that was approved by UNESCO as a member of the Asia-Pacific education innovation service plan contact center (APEID contact center for short), and the third meeting of APEID China contact center was held. 65438-0989, organized the APEID activity project "National Vocational and Technical Education Management Training Course". The school library has been identified as one of UNESCO's collections. In 2000, he hosted a seminar on higher vocational and technical education in North China. In 2002, the school was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as "the key supporting institution of the National Model Vocational and Technical College". Over the years, the school has attached great importance to foreign exchanges and conducted friendly exchanges with institutions of higher learning in Germany, Russia, Japan, Australia and many other countries, expanding the influence of the school.
