Look around us. What is the purpose of people entering the library? Some people do their homework, some people look up information, some people struggle with various exams, and some people just want to read a few books that interest them. Most of them do homework and go to the library for exams. Usually, the library is full of people who are immersed in writing, but when the final period or other large-scale exams are approaching, the library is even more crowded, and there are no seats when they are late. At first glance, there are enough people going to the library, and resources should be fully utilized. However, in essence, our library resources are not fully utilized, and even many resources are idle.
It seems that only a few people go to the library to look up information and read books on literature, history and philosophy or science and technology to enrich themselves, broaden their horizons and solve doubts. In the library, except for the magazine area on the fifth floor, many people are wandering in front of the bookshelves, and only a few people are reading books on other floors. For those who simply regard the library as a place to do their homework, the library can be completely replaced by other places.
So in order to make full use of library resources, what purpose should we enter the library with? Some accomplished people answered this question a long time ago. For example, when giving advice to college students in China, Kai-fu Lee said, "College students should make full use of libraries and the Internet to cultivate the ability of independent study and research in order to prepare for future work or further study." He told us that when we find a subject we are interested in in in a class, we should actively go to the library to consult relevant literature to understand the ins and outs of this subject and the current research trends.
In my opinion, both liberal arts students and science students should have a reading and research plan. You can explore more thematic issues in the * * * enjoyment space on each floor. If you don't understand, you can consult relevant materials, try to learn what you are interested in by yourself, and develop your interest into a specialty. In addition, you should not be confined to your own professional field, but should dabble extensively. Students majoring in liberal arts may wish to read popular science books, such as books introducing modern science and technology such as relativity; Students majoring in science may wish to read some literature, study management and psychology.
In this era of information and knowledge explosion, only with such a purpose can we better keep pace with the times and keep up with the trend of the times. Society needs people with all-round development and high comprehensive quality. In the long run, it is also a realistic need to go to the library to learn about different disciplines and cultures. Only by arming ourselves with richer and more solid knowledge and wisdom can we realize our dream of life.
Maybe going to the library to do homework has become a habit, but next time we go to the library, we might as well think about what else we can do in the library. When most people go to the library with a better purpose, the resources of our library will certainly be better utilized.
