The Historical Evolution of Harbin Engineering University Library
The library of Harbin Engineering University was developed and built on the basis of 27,000 books of Harbin military industry. With the gradual development of the school, the library has continuously expanded its collection resources. By the end of 1990, the school has more than 300,000 books. Since the 1990s, with the adjustment of the school's discipline layout and the continuous expansion of its scale, the types and quantities of library collections have also greatly developed, and relatively complete literature information resources of key disciplines have been gradually established. By 2006, there will be 0/604,500 books and 243/kloc-0 newspapers and periodicals. With the process of electronization and networking, the library adapts to the development of the times, and pays attention to the construction of paper resources while vigorously strengthening the construction of electronic resources. Especially after 2002, the library adjusted its procurement policy, and the procurement of electronic resources increased year by year. Database resources have also changed from focusing on Chinese to paying equal attention to both Chinese and foreign languages, and from focusing on periodical papers to paying equal attention to various literature types. The library has always insisted on the construction of literature resources around the disciplines and courses of the school. And strive to optimize the allocation of literature resources, and gradually form a collection system with the characteristics of "three seas and one core" (shipbuilding industry, naval equipment, marine development, nuclear energy application). By the end of 20 14, there were 3 133600 books, including 2 183900 printed books and 949700 electronic books. There are 59 databases, including 22 Chinese databases and 37 foreign databases.
