Recently, I found out my old and broken book "Teach yourself to play chess", so I can review it and upgrade my original blog post. There is an appendix at the end of the book, which tells several ways to record the chess score. I didn't pay much attention to it at first, but later I felt that mastering the correct notation in practice could not only improve the efficiency of the game, but also bring convenience to the later archiving and analysis. There are three kinds of notation in the book, among which the complete algebraic notation is a notation that is being eliminated, and the descriptive notation has been eliminated, but it is still needed when reading classical literature.
There are many kinds of notation, such as image algebra notation, reversible algebra notation, simple reversible algebra notation, Smith notation, coordinate notation, ICCF digital notation and so on. They are all notation that has been eliminated, or is being eliminated, or can only be used in special occasions. At present, only simple algebraic notation is recognized by most people, used by most newly published books and accepted by 100% chess computer software. Therefore, there is only one thing to remember, simple algebraic notation. So the following is how to record the chess score with simple algebraic notation.
1. Chessboard and the code of each grid
Based on white chess, eight vertical lines (files) on the chessboard are represented by eight English letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H from left to right, and eight horizontal lines (ranks) on the chessboard are represented by Arabic numerals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 from bottom to top. The names of all squares are shown in the figure below.

4. Codes, symbols and operators
With the above codes and symbols, we can record our walking process. For example, if a soldier on the white e2 grid wants to go to the e4 grid, it will be recorded as 1.e4, and if the black side should go to the e5 grid with the soldiers on the e7 grid, it will be recorded as 1...e5 (clicking three points means that the bottom is black, and if it is connected with white, it is not necessary to click); If the horse eats the soldiers on e5, it is recorded as Nxe5 (the same is true for eating other children); If there is a general's soldier on the f7 grid, write it as Bxf7+; If the horse jumps on the d5 grid and kills the opponent, write it as Nd5 #;; When the game is over and white wins, just leave an empty space and write 1-0.
There are some exceptions. For example, it is rare in high-level competitions, but children often have ups and downs when playing chess. For example, if a soldier on the White B Line attacks the other side's bottom line, he can rise to the rear, a car, a horse, or an elephant (of course, everyone will rise to the rear). If you really want to rise to the rear, then you can write b = Q;; Horses in f6 and b8 can walk in d7. If you walk on the b8 grid, you should write Nbd7. If your two cars are on a vertical line, one on e 1 and the other on e7, you can walk to e3. If it is on e 1, it should be written as R 1e3. etc
In short, through these codes and symbols, we can clearly and accurately record the whole process of our walking, which is convenient for our analysis and understanding by others.
