Major achievements
achievements in scientific research
Tang engaged in the study of automata theory in the mid-1960s, and proved many structural properties of computer transfer commands, such as that transfer commands can be replaced by cycles, which is one year earlier than Bohm-Jacopi theorem. The research on structured programming and structured language in 1970s promoted the development of this work in China. In the early 1980s, he began to study the sequential logic language XYZ/E, software engineering tools and environmental system XYZ system based on it, organically combined the sequential logic theory with software engineering technology, and improved the automation level of software development, thus improving its productivity. Among them, the sequential logic language XYZ/E is the first executable sequential logic language in the world.
As early as 1965, Tang published a paper on the nature of computer instruction system in the Journal of Mathematics, proposing that branch instructions can be replaced by loops. This important result was published one year earlier than similar results of foreign counterparts in China. In the mid-1970s, he analyzed and summarized a great deal of information about structured programming research in the world, and completed a long paper, Structured Programming and Structured Programming Language. On this basis, he designed a broad-spectrum structured programming language, named serialized language family, abbreviated as XYZ system.
By July, 2008, Tang had published more than 0/00 academic papers/kloc at home and abroad in China, and published a collection of poems "Ten Villages in Taoxi" (Taoxi is a pen name).
From 65438 to 0979, Tang was invited to visit Stanford University. As of July 2008, he has been invited to give lectures and visit in more than 30 universities and scientific research institutions in Europe, America and Japan.
personnel training
Tang Pei has trained a large number of outstanding talents in computer theory and software. He often teaches students that as a scientific researcher, one must first have a scientific outlook on life and the world. Scientific research is to explore true knowledge, and nothing can be false or opportunistic.
Tang believes that the current scientific and technological circles pay too much attention to "human touch" and not enough attention to "science" in academic evaluation. In such an atmosphere, peer review is also easy to become a mere formality.
Honor recognition
social service
1980 Tang became the first member of the international federation for information processing (IFIP) expert group from China; He also served as the editorial board of China Computer Magazine, Software Magazine, Progress of Natural Science, and Journal of Symbolic Computing. Consultant of China Software Industry Association; Executive director of China Chinese Information Society; Director of China Dialectics of Nature Research Association; Honorary Professor of Wuhan University, Chongqing University and Central South University of Technology; Adjunct professor of University of Science and Technology of China, Northwest University and Guizhou University; Honorary Director of State Key Laboratory of Computer Science.
Personal life
Wisdom in Tang and Song Dynasties died young because of poverty and illness of his biological father Tang Zicheng. He adopted his widowed aunt Zhu Chunxuan as his son. His grandfather, Tang Chengzhi, is famous for Tibetan Chinese medicine books in Hunan. He was one of the earliest people who founded a new school in Changsha in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
Personality assessment
Mr. Tang is one of the pioneers in computer science and software engineering research in China. He has worked hard for China's scientific revitalization for nearly 60 years and contributed his whole life. Mr. Wang is a leading academic in the field of computer science and software in China. He has made outstanding achievements in structural programming theory, programming language, formal grammar, Chinese character information processing and software engineering. (Review by Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences)
Mr. Tang has been conducting scientific research for the important needs of the country all his life. He pioneered and innovated pragmatically with a forward-looking vision, demonstrated and trained a large number of outstanding talents in computer science and software theory, and made outstanding contributions to the development of the institute and the progress of computer science and technology in China. Mr. Wang's scientific spirit of rigorous scholarship and noble moral character of patriotic dedication deserve our continuous study and inheritance. (Academician of China Academy of Sciences pointed out September, 2065438 16 when presiding over Mr. Tang's academic thought seminar)
Commemoration of future generations
1995 proposed by Professor Z.Manna of Stanford University, the international academic community held an academic seminar in Beijing to celebrate Mr. Tang's 70th birthday, and the minutes of the meeting were published by World Science Press.
2065438+On September 6th, 2005, Mr. Tang's academic thought seminar was held in Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
