Modern Chinese reading questions continue the proposition of college entrance examination in previous years. For example, the reading material of scientific articles is still an article reflecting the latest trends in a certain field, which means that the content involved in the article is relatively new or unfamiliar to candidates. The composition proposition is still in the form of material plus topic, which continues the idea of composition reform in college entrance examination in recent years from content to form. Modern prose reading test highlights humanistic spirit. The material is rich in connotation and the topic selection is reasonable. The setting of four small questions directly hits the depths of the works' thoughts and feelings from different angles. For example, the allusion of "Mei's wife and crane" quoted in the article is intended to emphasize that people should respect nature and form a close partnership with nature.

The openness of subjective questions is more prominent. This exploration is embodied in the proposition of appreciation of ancient poetry, especially its second sub-topic. There are two views on the content expressed in this poem. This proposition reflects the proposer's respect for reading personality, which is conducive to mobilizing the examinee's own life experience and knowledge accumulation and expressing his unique feelings, experiences and understanding.
