Difference between People's Education Edition and Beijing Normal University Edition
Compare the two versions of junior high school mathematics textbooks and briefly talk about my feelings.

Let's start with the People's Education Edition. I never liked monopoly. After all, only competition can make progress, but it must be said that in the field of textbook compilation, the People's Education Society, which has always monopolized the field of textbooks for primary and secondary schools in China, has the deepest knowledge. I heard that their editors usually go to middle schools to attend classes, inspect the classroom effect, and write textbooks according to the actual needs of teachers and students. It can be said that they have enough homework. The latest edition of junior high school mathematics textbook by People's Education Society is really eye-catching. The main advantages are:

1) The structure of the textbook is rigorous, the main contents of junior high school mathematics are arranged in a proper order, and the process of the development of mathematical concepts is fully respected. (Personally, this is the most important index for evaluating mathematics textbooks. )

2) The text description is rigorous. Not only to prove that the writing of the example is rigorous; If readers carefully consider the words used in each edition, it should be said that the People's Education Edition is the most rigorous, and the words that can't stand scrutiny are the least. (This is also an important index for evaluating mathematics textbooks. )

3) It is convenient for preview and self-study. People's Education Edition is more detailed, from the emergence of problems, to the abstraction of mathematical models, to the solutions, all of which are summarized and arranged in this logical order.

Disadvantages are:

1) There are too many paragraphs, which may be difficult for junior high school students to accept.

2) Sometimes there are several concepts in a paragraph, which leads to too many knowledge points.

Besides, Beijing Normal University Edition. Beijing Normal University has accumulated a lot of data and analysis in basic teaching research, but the final textbooks are really flattering. Junior high school is the textbook of Beijing Normal University. After more than ten years, the words and pictures in the book have remained basically unchanged, and the order of each chapter has only been slightly adjusted. This set of teaching materials has maintained its consistent advantages:

1) Combine with reality and be close to life. Illustrations are richer and more attractive to students than people's education edition.

2) More content than PEP. From this perspective, the more students usually know, the more dominant the senior high school entrance examination will be.

The fatal shortcoming of the textbook published by Beijing Normal University is that the content arrangement is very chaotic. Reflected in the following aspects:

1) Some content arrangements do not meet the cognitive age of students. For example, in the first chapter, I really want to vomit and cut a geometry with a plane. This part is the foundation of solid geometry in senior high school, which requires high spatial imagination. How to arrange the first chapter of the first volume of grade seven? In fact, the content of "unfolding and folding" needs higher spatial imagination. If I were the editor-in-chief, I would definitely put this part in the ninth grade.

2) Some of the contents are not in line with the teaching practice: for example, the second volume of the seventh grade talked about intersecting lines and parallel lines, but the proof of parallel lines was not formally introduced until the last chapter of the first volume of the eighth grade. That is to say, the textbook editor thinks that students are not required to prove their previous geometry knowledge strictly, including congruent triangles. However, according to the tradition of mathematics teaching in China, the writing of geometric proof must be strictly mastered from the beginning, because the writing of proof is standardized, which shows that students' thinking is clear and they can avoid losing points in this aspect in the exam. I thought it was strange when I taught myself this part more than ten years ago. I have done so many proof questions. Why do you officially start talking about proof now? In this way, the textbook of Beijing Normal University inevitably repeats the content of parallel lines, which is extremely inefficient and ridiculous.

3) Some content arrangements are too scattered. For example, function, the second volume of grade seven talks about variables to introduce the concept of function, but it was not until the first volume of grade eight that the function was talked about. In fact, the concepts of variables and functions are closely related, and there is absolutely no need to artificially split them into two. Another place that is too scattered is the statistics and probability part. This part of the content is newly added after the 0 1 curriculum reform, and there is no algebra and geometry in junior high school mathematics. In fact, there are only a few statistics and probabilities in middle schools, and the textbooks of Beijing Normal University have to be divided into five or six chapters, a little each semester, which seems to be difficult to connect. This is not as good as the People's Education Edition. The People's Education Edition has two chapters of statistics, one chapter of probability and three chapters of * * *, which are arranged in the seventh, eighth and ninth grades respectively.

In addition, the contents of triangles, linear equations and inequalities are arranged too loosely. In contrast, the teaching materials of People's Education Edition are consistent with these contents, so the teaching efficiency is higher. Obviously, the editors of Beijing Normal University Edition are overly superstitious about the teaching concept of "spiral rise", breaking the content that could have been done in one go into several paragraphs, learning the knowledge behind, and spending time reviewing the things in front, which has affected the efficiency.

I once read a blog post on the Internet written by a junior high school math teacher in Chengdu. Tucao Beijing Normal University Edition junior high school mathematics textbook is seriously divorced from the teaching practice, which makes it difficult for teachers to teach and students to learn. I don't know when each district/county/school chooses textbooks, who has the right to decide, and how much interest is involved. I don't know if there are any teachers who really like the junior high school mathematics textbook published by Beijing Normal University. However, how can the quality of such teaching materials be deceived for more than ten years? If I have the right to choose the math textbook for junior high school students, it is definitely not the Beijing Normal University version.
