I once felt this contradiction when I was studying calculus. The concept of calculus is very abstract, full of many seemingly absurd statements such as "infinitesimal" and "approaching zero". Although these statements have been proved by rigorous deduction, for me, a non-math major, I always feel a little unreasonable.
In addition, I am also deeply troubled when I study abstract algebra such as complex number and group theory. The symbols and formulas used in these subjects look extremely difficult and obscure, and it often takes me a lot of time and energy to master them. These experiences made me realize that the beauty and complexity of mathematics may not be fully understood by human intelligence.
