Before Newton, materials science was basically qualitative and graphical, while western mathematics was dominated by geometry at that time.
In the East, one part of materials science is in a speculative state, the other part is in an empirical state, and mathematics is mainly arithmetic. But apart from simple number superstition, materials science has little to do with arithmetic.
Perhaps in the future, physics can transcend quantitative analysis and freely use other mathematical objects, but this day seems far away.
