Evening News The reporter learned from the relevant departments of our city that the selection of the 2nd World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition (China District) ended recently in north china university of technology, Beijing. Our city sent 29 primary and middle school students representing Guangxi Division to work hard, and * * * achieved good results of 1 gold 1 silver 6 bronze. Among them, Chen Xitian, a sixth-grade player from Park Road Primary School, won the gold medal and was qualified to participate in the global finals of the second World Youth Olympic Mathematics Competition. She will go to Germany in August this year to compete with Olympic mathematics experts from all over the world.
It is understood that this competition sponsored by the World Junior Olympic Mathematical Association is divided into four steps: online sea selection, division promotion, China district trials and German district finals. Nearly 200,000 primary and secondary school students participated in the online sea election. More than 400 primary and middle school students in our city signed up for the Guangxi Division Promotion Competition, and 29 students were selected to go to Beijing to participate in the China District Trials. After two attempts with more than 1500 Olympic masters selected by the whole country, Chen Xitian from Park Road Primary School won the gold medal, Li from Grade 6 from Jingxing Primary School won the silver prize, Hou Yaosheng from No.15 Middle School, Qin Yecheng from No.12 Middle School, Lin Yizhang from Park Road Primary School, Xiong Jiayi from Liunan Experimental Primary School, Wang Zhonghao from Beique No.2 Primary School, and Feng from Primary School.
As an intellectual competition, the Olympic Mathematics Competition emphasizes the spirit of unremitting pursuit and has become the most influential and recognized mathematics competition in the world. China participated in this competition (senior high school group) from 1985, and achieved excellent results many times. In order to guide children's interest and hobby in mathematics and cultivate their ability to explore mathematics, the World Olympic Mathematics Competition Association decided to improve the level of students from the third grade of primary school to the third grade of junior high school from the 2008 season, so that the majority of students can roam the interesting maze of Olympic mathematics and climb the infinite peak of Olympic mathematics scenery.
