The Mathematics Teacher's Speech at the Parents' Meeting of Freshmen
Dear parents:

Good afternoon everyone!

Thank you very much for taking the time to attend this parent-teacher conference. This is your support for our teacher's work, and it is also a true manifestation of your concern for children's growth. Here, first of all, congratulate your child on entering the primary education stage and becoming a primary school student.

Let me introduce myself first. My last name is Fan. I am a math teacher in our class. I teach mathematics. This year is the sixth year. Then at today's parents' meeting, I will exchange views with you on the math class I teach. * * * Discuss eight words "2 concerns, 3 habits and 4 suggestions".

1. Two questions about this semester's textbooks

(1) Pay attention to verbal calculation. This semester's teaching focuses on the understanding of numbers within 20 and the oral calculation of one-digit addition and subtraction, including addition and subtraction within 10 and addition and subtraction within 20. It is the basis of children's multi-digit calculation in the future. Whether this part of the content is learned well or not has a great influence on the improvement of children's computing ability in the future. Through a semester's study, I want students to answer 8 writing questions correctly every minute, which is the most basic requirement that every student must meet. Better students are more demanding. To achieve this goal, it is by no means achieved overnight, but depends on long-term training and unremitting efforts. Parents need special attention.

(2) Pay attention to the cultivation of computing ability. Addition and subtraction within 20 is a very important basic knowledge. Children must learn well and reach the level of skilled calculation. The final speed requires about 8 steps per minute, and the correct rate is 95%.

For freshmen, grades are important, but good grades are temporary. Good habits are more important than good grades. Once the study habit is formed, it will be the wealth of a child's life. Especially the first grade is the best time to cultivate children's good habits.

Teach children the habit of studying hard in class. Listening is an important learning accomplishment for students and an effective guarantee for students to absorb knowledge. Learning to listen can improve learning efficiency. Children in grade one are more active, and some of them have to be distracted in class, which requires teachers to remind them often. Sometimes they don't learn knowledge in class. Therefore, after the child comes home, parents can ask him what he learned today. Did you speak? Let the children say what they learned that day, and at the same time achieve the role of consolidating new knowledge. Sometimes parents can let their children test themselves on the topics they have learned today. The process of making children a small teacher is also a process of reviewing and consolidating.

Cultivate students' habit of finishing their homework carefully. Homework is the shadow that accompanies children's study, and finishing homework carefully is an important link to consolidate and deepen what they have learned and cultivate their mathematical ability. Through homework, we can see children's learning situation and attitude towards learning at school. Therefore, from now on, let children know the significance of doing homework on time, and pay attention to whether children learn quickly and write carefully. Establish a sense of responsibility for learning from an early age, even oral homework should be taken seriously, and develop a meticulous attitude towards homework. When children are writing homework, parents should educate their children: finish homework on time and don't procrastinate; Concentrate on homework, don't play while writing, and prevent children from doing homework while watching TV or eating. In addition, after finishing homework, it is necessary to develop the habit of letting children organize their own schoolbags and bring all school supplies.

Develop the habit of thinking independently and not afraid of difficulties. We should let children form the habit of thinking hard and thinking independently from an early age. Understanding mathematical knowledge and solving mathematical problems is a hard cognitive activity, and various difficulties will be encountered in the process. Only by guiding children to overcome can we cultivate and exercise their will from an early age.

3. To cultivate good study habits and strict study norms, it is far from enough to rely on the education of schools and teachers, but also need your strong support and help, because you are the enlightener and mentor of children. Here, I want to give you three suggestions:

Help children read.

The biggest difficulty is that children in grade one have little literacy and don't understand the requirements of math problems. Literacy is the key to solving our problems. So, as parents, how can we help our children read? Parents should consciously let their children pay more attention to some unfamiliar new words, then let them read the questions by themselves, and then teach them to read words in units of words when they meet unfamiliar words. If you go on like this for a long time and read more, you will naturally know more words. Parents don't explain the purpose and significance of math problems, but just help their children read them together, or you can read them once and let them read them with your fingers. When reading the questions, you should pay attention not only to the questions, but also to the requirements of doing the questions first, which will help children develop the habit of reading the questions first and then doing them. At the same time, it is necessary to encourage children to ask questions where they don't understand, but it is best not to tell him the answer directly, let him discover or guess the meaning of the topic, and let him find out the most key words in the topic, which is also very helpful for children to develop the habit of using their brains.

Keep practicing oral arithmetic every day.

The first year's oral arithmetic training is the most important in teaching. Children's language ability has great potential. If properly trained, their speech speed can be improved several times than that of children who are not trained. Therefore, to cultivate children's verbal ability, we should give priority to peacetime and insist on it. To ensure the time for children to practice oral arithmetic, it is best to practice for 3-5 minutes every day, and the effect will definitely be remarkable. But oral arithmetic exercises should be used alternately in many ways. In the past, parents of senior one introduced some good methods, such as competing with their children to see who can calculate quickly; Ask each other questions, listen to calculations and so on. The time and place may not be fixed. After school, before eating, on the way home ... keep the children fresh and stimulate the enthusiasm of verbal calculation. Only when they are interested can they play the role of practicing every day and blurt it out. Students' oral arithmetic ability has been improved, their calculation ability and basic skills have been cultivated, and their intelligence has also been developed, which may lay a good foundation for learning mathematics well in the future.

Learning mathematics in life

We now advocate mathematics in life. If parents can guide and infiltrate their children in daily life, it will get twice the result with half the effort:

First, know the clock face. In life, let children look at the clock and tell the time, starting from punctuality and half-time, such as eight o'clock sharp and eight thirty. Let them see the clock face and naturally realize what time it is;

Second, know objects and figures. In daily life, boxes, columns, cuboids, cubes, columns, balls and other graphics can be identified with children in time.

Three, yuan, angle and minute. It takes a process to understand it, so parents can mention it to their children intentionally or unintentionally in daily life to help parents buy things, settle accounts, pay money and give change.

Fourth, direction and position. In life, when going out, consciously remind children what is in what direction and know the big reference. For example, where to go and what to do today, and which direction to go from home.

Fifth, length perception. The distance between two street lamps in life is about a few meters, and how far is it from home to the store. How long are the paintings, how many kinds are there, and so on.

Our goal is only one, to educate our children well! It is my greatest wish to teach every child well. Therefore, I also hope that parents will cooperate with our teaching work more, and thank you for your support for my education work. I would like to join hands with you to make the children have a happy first grade.
