Historical Evolution of School of Mathematics and Statistics, Southwest University
The School of Mathematics and Statistics of Southwest University is developed from the Department of Mathematics of Southwest Normal University. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Department of Mathematics established in 194 1. 1950 10 With the approval of the Ministry of Education of the Central People's Government, the National Women's Teachers College and Sichuan Education College were merged into Southwest Normal College, and the mathematics departments of the two schools were integrated to form the Mathematics Department of Southwest Normal College. 1953 when the departments of higher normal universities in southwest China were adjusted, they were merged into some teachers and students of mathematics departments such as West China University, Sichuan Normal University and Kunming Normal University. 1In August, 985, with the approval of the State Education Commission, Southwest Normal University was renamed Southwest Normal University. 1994 the department of mathematics set up the accounting major, and the department of finance and economics recruited the first undergraduate accounting students. In April 2003, the School of Mathematics and Finance of Southwest Normal University was established, with four departments: Mathematics Department, Applied Mathematics Department, Accounting Department and Mathematics Research Institute. In July 2005, the college was renamed the School of Mathematics and Finance of Southwest University. In May 2006, the discipline of Southwest University was adjusted, and the School of Mathematics and Finance was renamed as the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Southwest University. During the development of the college, several generations have paid hard work and sweat, laying a solid foundation for the construction and development of the college. A large number of famous scholars and experts, such as Guo, Duan Tiaoyuan, He Lu, Yuan Bingnan, Ke Zhao, Wang Yuanji, Yan Dongkai, Wang Xiuquan, Chen Zhongmu, Guo and other famous professors, have made outstanding contributions. Chongqing Mathematics Society, founded in 1958, is affiliated to our college and co-sponsored the publication Mathematics Teaching Newsletter.
