Trapezoids and triangles in primary school mathematics
Is it the area of the shaded part?

We all know the area formula of triangle = base * height ÷2.

The only set of parallel opposite sides of a trapezoid has countless heights, so the heights of the triangles in the three shaded parts are all 4.

The sum of the three bases is 8, so the area of the shadow triangle is 8×4÷2= 16.
