In August of the 38th year of the Republic of China (1949), Pingyuan Province was established and its division was greatly adjusted. Cancel the second, third, fifth and seventh districts of Hebei, Shandong and Henan, and set up Heze and Huxi District, which belong to the plain province. The adjusted Heze area has jurisdiction over eight counties, namely Heze, Dingtao, Cao Xian, Dongming, Juancheng, Yuncheng, Liangshan and Wang Nan. They are all in this area except some parts of Wang Nan. Huxi area governs 7 counties including Shan County, Fucheng, Chengwu and Juye.
