Liu Hui is undoubtedly the creator and innovator in the field of mathematics. As far as his level is concerned, he can write a self-contained book, which is even higher. However, he failed to break through the convention of annotation of classic works and dissolved his opinions in Nine Chapters Arithmetic, which is of great benefit to future generations to understand Nine Chapters Arithmetic, but it limited his mathematical creation, the development of mathematical methods and the influence of his thoughts on future generations. For example, as far as limit thought is concerned, from the existing data of China's ancient calculations, before Li's calculus thought came into being in the late Qing Dynasty and western calculus was introduced to China, no one surpassed or even failed to reach Liu Hui's level. Therefore, it can be said that Liu Hui's Notes on Nine Chapters of Arithmetic is revolutionary in content and conservative in form. Liu Hui said: "One is the mother of numbers", which is correct within the scope of rational numbers. Moreover, this kind of thinking is undoubtedly meaningful for finding the approximate value of pi without considering the philosophical difficulties. However, this idea also closes the door to consider the number that is not equal to 1. Later, the understanding of irrational numbers has not been able to go further on the basis of Nine Chapters of Arithmetic.
