The textbooks in Shanghai are not the People's Education Edition. Most of the textbooks in Shanghai are versions of Shanghai education. At present, Chinese textbooks, history textbooks and Taoist textbooks for primary and secondary schools in Shanghai are all edited by the State Department of People's Publishing House. Shanghai's primary school mathematics textbook is Shanghai Education Edition, and in English, Shanghai adopts Oxford Edition.

People's Education Edition is different from Shanghai Education Edition.

In the textbook of People's Education Edition, the requirement of inequality proof is relatively high, while in the textbook of Shanghai Education Edition, only the proof of basic inequality types is needed. In the textbook of People's Education Edition, the structure of series of questions is required, while the textbook of Shanghai Education Edition is relatively flexible. There is no second definition of conic curve in the textbook of Shanghai Education Press, and there is no principle of Zugeng in solid geometry of People Education Press.

Compared with the original PEP, the new textbook pays more attention to the mastery and accumulation of basic knowledge. Among them, the most important thing is the requirement for primary school students to read and write. The newly compiled textbooks put forward higher and more detailed requirements for children. The textbooks compiled by the Ministry are closer to the Chinese life of contemporary primary and secondary school students in terms of text selection, exercise design and after-school exercises, and are more modern.

In the primary school Chinese textbooks compiled by the Ministry, the content of ancient poetry has increased from 69 to 124, and it has also doubled in the junior middle school Chinese textbooks compiled by the Ministry.
