Guo Yonghuai (1April 4th, 909-1February 5th, 968), Shandong Rong adult, graduated from Nankai University, Peking University and California Institute of Technology. Famous mechanic, applied mathematician, aerodynamicist, academician of China Academy of Sciences, one of the founders of modern mechanics.
The upper critical Mach number was discovered, and the deformed coordinate method in singular perturbation theory, namely internationally recognized PLK method, was developed, which initiated the research of hypersonic flow, electromagnetic fluid mechanics and explosion mechanics in China and made important contributions to the development of missiles, nuclear bombs and satellites. The winner of "Two Bombs and One Satellite Medal of Honor" is the only scientist in this group who won the title of "Martyr".
Scientific achievements
Guo Yonghuai led and organized the research work on detonation mechanics, high-pressure equation of state, aerodynamics, flight mechanics, structural mechanics and experimental science of weapon environment in the development of atomic bombs and hydrogen bombs in China, and solved a series of major problems. He is the only scientist who has made great contributions to China's nuclear bomb, hydrogen bomb and satellite experiment. Together with Wang, Peng Huanwu, it initially formed the "three pillars" of China's nuclear weapons research.
