Two-dimensional, three-dimensional and four-dimensional concepts

Two-dimensional refers to the situation that an object or space has two coordinate axes. In plane geometry, we use X axis and Y axis to describe two-dimensional space. Typical two-dimensional graphics include squares, rectangles, triangles and circles.

2, three-dimensional (3D):

Three-dimensional refers to the situation that an object or space has three coordinate axes. In three-dimensional geometry, we use X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis to describe the position of objects in space. Three-dimensional space has not only length and width, but also height or depth. It contains all directions and perspectives of the object. We live in a three-dimensional world and can touch, feel and move objects. For example, cubes, spheres and prisms are all examples of three-dimensional objects.

3. Four dimensions (4D):

Four-dimensional means adding a time dimension on the basis of three-dimensional space. In physics and relativity, time is regarded as the fourth dimension. It describes the changes of objects or events over time. Four-dimensional space can be used to describe the movement, deformation or evolution of events.

However, due to the limitation of human perception and intuition, we cannot directly observe or experience the four-dimensional space. We usually use three-dimensional projection or mathematical model to express and understand four-dimensional concepts.

It is difficult for us to directly imagine or observe the higher dimensional space. The understanding of four-dimensional space usually depends on mathematical models, images and reasoning. In science and research, the exploration of higher dimensions is still in progress, and they play an important role in understanding the changes of the universe, matter and time.
