Upon completion, Taihu Tunnel will be the longest and widest underwater tunnel in China, with a total length of 10.79km and a width of 43.6 meters.

There are three wind towers along the Taihu Tunnel. The "Painted Boat" in Nanquan section and the "Jasper Spiral" wind tower in Mashan section have made stunning appearances, becoming the new landscape and "punching place" of Taihu Lake. The island in the middle of the tunnel also completed the main structure. The design of the wind tower in the lake adopts the traditional pavilion shape with Jiangnan characteristics-Dahecheng green brick wall, which makes the shape of the vent fit the beautiful environment of Taihu Lake.

Value meaning

The south expressway of Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou where Taihu Tunnel is located is a local expressway established by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport to support the development of the "three major strategies" and is an integral part of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" expressway network planning in Jiangsu Province.

After the completion of Taihu Tunnel, the function of Shanghai-Nanjing Passage as a national comprehensive transportation corridor will be greatly enhanced, which is of great significance to the urban development of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou and will become a new engine to promote the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta.
