(1) Because in triangle ABC, angle A=40 degrees and angle B=72 degrees,

So ACB angle =68 degrees,

Because CD is perpendicular to AB and the angle α= 40 degrees,

So the angle ACD=50 degrees,

Because angle ACB=68 degrees, CE bisects angle ACB,

So the angle ACE=34 degrees,

So angle DCF= angle ACD- angle ACE

=50 -34 degrees

= 16 degrees,

Because DF is perpendicular to CE,

So the angle CDF=90 degrees-16 degrees.

=74 degrees.

(2) Angle ACB= 180 degrees -a-B,

Angle ACD=90 degrees-α

Angle ACE=90 degrees -a/2-B/2,

Angle DCF= angle ACD- angle ACE

=(90 degrees -a)-(90 degrees -a/2-B/2)

=(B-a)/2,

So the angle CDF=90 degrees -(B-a)/2.
