The time is at the beginning of March every year, and the target is senior students majoring in English and related majors. Non-English and related majors and students who are not in school cannot take the exam. Those who pass the exam will be awarded transcripts by the foreign language teaching steering Committee of colleges and universities. The score is divided into three grades: 60-69 is qualified; 70-79 is good; More than 80 points is excellent. Certificates issued after passing the examination are valid for life. Since 2003, those who fail the exam can make up the exam once. Only after passing the make-up exam will a certificate be issued.
The National Education Commission's English Teaching Syllabus for English Majors in Colleges and Universities stipulates that the task of English teaching for senior English majors in colleges and universities is to "continue to lay a solid foundation of language skills, further expand knowledge, focus on cultivating comprehensive English skills, enrich cultural knowledge and improve communicative competence." At the same time, the Outline also pointed out that "the implementation of the Outline is mainly checked through unified testing." "Testing and grading should be standardized and computerized as soon as possible to make it scientific, objective and feasible". The purpose of this examination is to check the implementation of the syllabus, especially the comprehensive language skills and communicative competence required by the TEM-8 syllabus, so as to promote the further implementation of the syllabus and improve the teaching quality.
Second, the nature and scope of the examination:
The test is a reference level test, which aims to test candidates' personal and comprehensive language ability. The scope of the examination includes listening, reading, writing and translation skills specified in the syllabus. Due to the lack of conditions for large-scale oral examination, oral skills are suspended.
Third, the examination time and proposition:
The TEM8 exam is held in March every year, and the TEM8 exam proposition group is responsible for the proposition and implementation.
Fourth, the examination form:
