Basic role:

SAT-related pictures According to the view of the American College Council (hereinafter referred to as CB), the sponsor of SAT, SAT mainly examines the reading and writing abilities that students need in college. CB said that SAT will test students' ability to put what they have learned in school into practice, analyze and solve problems, which is very important in universities.

In the United States, students usually take the SAT in grades 10, 1 1 or 12. In addition, CB also said that the combination of SAT scores and GPA (average grade point) can better let the university admissions committee know the level of a student. Moreover, a tracking statistic also shows that the relationship between SAT and GPA is very close.

Due to various differences, SAT, as a standardized test, can make the regional scores of GPA comparable in a wider range, and at the same time, it can weaken the influence of other factors such as funds, courses and grading standards on students' objective evaluation.

Historically, SAT is more accepted in coastal areas, and ACT is more accepted in the midwest and south.

SAT is also used as a reference index for awarding scholarships. For example, SAT is one of the evaluation indicators in the American Scholarship Competition for Outstanding Students, a large-scale scholarship competition held in American high schools 1 1 and 12 grades.

Some organizations with high IQ, such as Mensa and Sanjiu Club, also use SAT as the evaluation index of their members. For example, the "admission criteria" of Sanjiu Kochi Society are:1450 (SAT before April, 1995) and1520 (SAT from April 1995 to February 2005).

SAT is sometimes used to distinguish high IQ children below 13. For example, the Johns Hopkins Center for Young Talents in the United States uses the SAT to select children with high IQ among students in grades 7-8.
