Tsinghua University: I love Jin Yong best. Judging from the loan situation, Tsinghua University, who is good at science and engineering, shows a completely different side. From the time axis, in 20 15, the first place in the borrowing list was Ordinary World, which was borrowed 463 times. By 20 16, the book fell to the fourth place, with only 196 times of borrowing. Those things in the Ming dynasty returned to the top of the list from the original second place, winning the championship with 339 times of borrowing. Among them, the role of "people" is remarkable. After all, in 20 15, Ordinary World, as a bibliography hand-picked by President Tsinghua, was sent to freshmen together with the admission notice. Some departments also let students write comments on "Ordinary World" during military training, which means "the king of Chu has a thin waist". Throughout the list, Jin Yong's works are the most borrowed books by Tsinghua students. Before 15, there were five novels by Jin Yong, which were borrowed 775 times, and eight novels by Tianlong 197 times, ranking third in the overall list. If we only read martial arts novels, only Jin Yong's works can enter the martial arts novels of the first 50 years and the late 20 th century. Only Jin, Gu, Liang, Wen and Huang remain strong.
Peking University: The hot list of designated teachers' books deserves attention. In the Peking University Garden next door to Tsinghua, the books that students are keen to borrow are completely different. Among the books that Peking University students are keen to borrow, social science books are better, accounting for half of the country. On 20 16 Peking University's book lending list, Psychology and Life, Calling for the Soul, Clash of Civilizations and Reconstruction of World Order, Suicide Theory and Human Development entered the top ten. Unlike the students in Tsinghua, the top 10 did not show the problem set of mathematical analysis, but two classic works of philosophy and social sciences were listed, namely, Economic Philosophy Manuscript by Marx 1844 and The Origin of Family, Private Ownership and Country by Engels. This understanding can be further confirmed by the use of e-books in Peking University Library. In 20 16, most of the top 10 books on the electronic platform of Book City were political and economic monographs, among which the Theory of Informal Institutions had 879 visits and The Speech of the New Orange Seller had 542 visits. On the platform of "Reading Show", there are concentrated academic texts, such as Hu Feng's comments and China's cultural road. The platform of "Studying in Yanyuan" is more like a gathering place for novels and art, with mules and gold with 2 193 hits and an introduction to European culture with 1250 readings.
Fudan University: Fudan University, I like the works of scholars in our school, and the arts and sciences are also good. The borrowing types are similar to those of Peking University, especially the list of liberal arts books. A series of books that are full of Chinese characters but can't understand them are among the best. 20 15 according to the classification methods of liberal arts, science, medicine, non-professional books and electronic periodicals, the books with the largest borrowing amount under each classification are Selected Reading of Western Philosophy, Calculus Course, Color Atlas of Human Anatomy, Psychology and Life and Nature. In the list of liberal arts books, Selected Readings of the Original Works of Western Philosophy comes after Wang Xiaobo's Complete Works, A Theory of Justice, Econometric Analysis Methods and Modeling, and Second Nature. There are many names on the list, but it is similar that Fudan students seem to prefer the works of scholars in our school. In the category of philosophy, Yu Wujin's New Editions of Foreign Marxist Philosophy Schools topped the list. In literature, the works of Wang Yunxi and Zhu Dongrun are among the best all the year round. In politics and law, Shen's Modern Western Jurisprudence, a graduate of Fudan Law Department, also occupies a place. The so-called "handed down from generation to generation" is roughly the same.
Shanghai Jiaotong University: The download volume of e-books is ten times that of paper books, and the book borrowing list of Shanghai Jiaotong University shows a strong interest in science and engineering. Although popular historical books such as Ming Dynasty and A Brief History of Mankind are also in the forefront, they are followed by a series of data and tool books such as Python Basic Course and Mystery of Silicon Valley. Among them, The Things in the Ming Dynasty crushed the following books with absolute advantage, and the borrowing times reached 4 15 times, while the story of the Romans, which ranked second, was only borrowed 1 12 times. Jiaotong University students seem to pay special attention to the training of logical thinking, and books such as "Golden Pagoda Principle" and "Learning to Ask Questions" are also borrowed by appointment for many times. At the same time, the construction of electronic resources of Jiaotong University is also in the forefront. In 20 16, the download volume of e-books for teachers and students of jiaotong university was nearly ten times that of paper books. In more than 200,000 searches, Python, matlab, data and modeling are the top three, showing great scientific and technological characteristics.
Looking at the four schools in northern Qing Dynasty, we can find many interesting findings: whether they are good at humanities and social sciences, or good at science, engineering, agriculture and medicine, books on literature, history and sociology are the most important parts in the borrowing list of the four schools. However, there are also sharp differences. Schools with good science and engineering prefer to borrow popular bestsellers of humanities and social sciences, while schools with good liberal arts borrow books of humanities and social sciences, which is more difficult to read. At the same time, European and American scholars, especially American scholars, occupy an absolute dominant position in these research fields. Contemporary young students may inherit this academic context and bear different fruits of China's thoughts.
