Handmade chessboard
Text/Ma Tao

Jessica Hester Hsuan has many game chessboards since childhood, including snake chess, beast chess, gobang chess, checkers, flying chess and so on. And my hand-painted 64 checkers, 100 checkers, flying chess ... The reason why he hand-painted chessboards is because he likes them very much, and they are easy to break, so he has to hand-paint one for him, also for the convenience of playing.

With the growth of age, his chessboard is basically handled, except for two. He said, because these two chessboards are the best I painted for him personally, full of my love for him and bring him endless fun, he wants to keep them as a souvenir. Haha, in his words, it is worthwhile to paint hard for my mother!

He painted this when he first went to kindergarten, because he had to do housework besides accompanying his children during the day, so it was difficult to sit down and draw for a long time. In addition, he occasionally makes trouble on the side, always making mistakes in painting or painting the wrong color, so I can only wait until the evening, when he falls asleep, before I can decide on my painting, but I stayed up for several nights. In retrospect, I admire my patience at that time. If I draw it again now, I wonder if it will be better than before?

The chessboard is drawn on the back of the calendar. The square is painted horizontally and vertically several times, and then painted horizontally and vertically when it is dry, and so on until the color is satisfactory.
