The Faculty of Science has subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Among them, mathematics has two disciplines, namely system engineering and applied mathematics. System engineering is the key discipline of the school, and applied mathematics is the key construction discipline of the school. System engineering is the authorization point of doctor, and applied mathematics is the authorization point of master. Biology has two disciplines: biochemistry and molecular biology, which is the key construction discipline of the school. There is a theoretical physics two disciplines in physics department, which is a general project subject in the school. The Department of Biology includes the Department of Biotechnology and Engineering, the Biological and Chemical Experiment Center, the Institute of Biological Engineering and the Institute of Applied Chemistry. The research direction of system engineering is: analysis and decision of uncertain system, theory and method of system optimization, and balanced management of mining system.

The research directions of applied mathematics are: optimization theory and method, fuzzy system and mathematics, engineering mathematics modeling and control theory and application.

The research directions of biochemistry and molecular biology are: sugar biochemistry, plant stress molecular biology and plant protein engineering.
