What is business?
Shang (pinyin: shāng) is a first-class universal Chinese character, which first appeared in Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty. Its original meaning is unknown. Oracle bones and tortoise shells were once used as names or places, and later the inscriptions on Oracle bones were named "Yin Shang".

The common meaning of business is to exchange views and opinions with each other, also refers to trade, and then refers to people engaged in trade. Shang is also one of the five tones and the name of the stars. Quotient also refers to the number of division operations in mathematics.

Quotient is a mathematical term, and the formula is: (dividend-remainder) ÷ divisor = quotient, which is recorded as dividend ÷ divisor = quotient ÷ remainder.

In a division formula, the relationship between dividend, remainder, divisor and quotient is: (dividend-remainder) ÷ divisor = quotient, which is recorded as dividend ÷ divisor = quotient ÷ remainder, and then the quotient × divisor+remainder = dividend is derived.

Some people think that the Shang characters in Oracle Bone Inscriptions are like swallows, meaning swallows. According to the ancestral legend of the Yin people, their ancestor Qi (xiè) was born by his mother Judie who swallowed the eggs of swallows. This legend is recorded in The Book of Songs, Ode to Shang and Xuanniao: "Xuanniao was born in the destiny, and Shang was born in the world." Shuowen also said that "swallows, dark birds are also", which shows that dark birds are swallows.

Because the Yin people thought they were descendants of Yan people, they took the merchant of Yanziyi as their family name. Some people say that it is far-fetched to interpret Shang characters in Oracle Bone Inscriptions as swallows, and there is no evidence to prove that Shang characters mean swallows in ancient literature. So this statement is hard to believe.
