The official name of the counterpart college entrance examination is: counterpart enrollment in ordinary colleges and universities, also known as the "three-school college entrance examination". As the name implies, the counterpart college entrance examination is aimed at secondary vocational school students, and only vocational high school students can participate. Ordinary high school students can't sign up for the college entrance examination.

The college entrance examination implements the "3+X" subject setting scheme, and the subjects are Chinese, mathematics, English and professional comprehensive knowledge. The full score of Chinese, mathematics and English papers (original score) 120, in which English listening score is included in the total score, and the content and method of English listening test are the same as those of ordinary college entrance examination. The full score of professional comprehensive knowledge (original score) is 390, and the total score of four subjects is 750.

The general college entrance examination refers to the general college entrance examination without distinguishing majors. The test content is Linguistic English+Literature Synthesis or Science Synthesis, 150, and Literature Synthesis is 300. Ordinary high school students can sign up for any major when filling in their volunteers.

Because ordinary high schools don't need to study specialized courses, the cultural courses in ordinary high schools are more difficult than vocational high schools. Relatively speaking, the ordinary college entrance examination is more difficult than the counterpart college entrance examination.

The counterpart college entrance examination is also held on June 8 every year. Except that the content of the exam is different from that of the ordinary college entrance examination, the other contents are the same, including the time for filling in volunteers, the treatment after entering school and the diploma, which are the same as those of the ordinary college entrance examination.
