Experience of urgently seeking elective courses in college mathematics and culture
Experience of Elective Course of Mathematical Culture I chose "Mathematical Culture" when I took it for the first time. Because I saw this name, I thought that learning some knowledge of mathematics might be useful for my study and life, so I signed up. The course "Mathematical Culture" introduces us a lot of mathematical knowledge, including the history and development of mathematics. China is a big country in mathematics and an ancient country in mathematics. As early as more than 2000 years ago, our ancestors had the idea of "Wednesday from Monday", which is what people say today, while the western countries did not have such an idea until the17th century. Chen Jingrun's idea of "Goldbach" In fact, each of us is dealing with numbers every day. A person can't read, but it's hard to live without reading. With the progress of modern science and technology, the requirements for mathematics are getting higher and higher, so I think the course of Mathematical Culture will benefit us a lot by analyzing the mysterious and closely related science of "Mathematics". After listening to several lectures, I feel very rewarding. Under the guidance of the teacher, we wandered and studied in the kingdom of mathematics, just like visiting scenic spots, browsing the mysteries of the mathematical world. In the first class, the teacher told us the history of mathematics: Mathematics originated from the early production activities of human beings, which was one of the six great arts in ancient China, and was also regarded as the starting point of philosophy by ancient Greek scholars. The evolution of mathematics can be regarded as the continuous development of abstraction and the extension of subject matter. The first abstract concept is probably number, and its cognition that two apples and two oranges have something in common is a great breakthrough in human thought. In addition to knowing how to calculate the number of actual substances, prehistoric humans also learned how to calculate the number of abstract substances, such as time-date, season and year. Arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) will naturally occur. Ancient stone tablets also confirmed the knowledge of geometry at that time. By16th century, elementary mathematics, such as arithmetic, elementary algebra and trigonometry, had been basically completed. The appearance of the concept of variables in the17th century made people begin to study the relationship between variables and the mutual transformation between graphs. In the process of studying classical mechanics, the method of calculus was invented. With the further development of natural science and technology, set theory and mathematical logic, which are produced for studying the basis of mathematics, have also begun to develop slowly. In addition to the history of mathematics, the teacher also commented on some important events in the history of mathematics, such as three mathematical crises. These three mathematical crises were all caused by mathematical explorers when they were exploring mathematics. After every mathematical crisis, mathematicians try their best to explore it and solve these problems through various methods. That class made me understand that the world of mathematics is a world of contradictions all the time. Learning mathematics is to study ways to solve these contradictions or explain them clearly with appropriate theories. In this course, I really learned a lot about mathematics for the first time, such as Euclidean geometry, non-Euclidean geometry, their birth significance and far-reaching influence on human civilization. For the first time, I understand that in our world, everything is not necessarily what we usually see. In some cases, the sum of the internal angles of a triangle may be less than 180 or greater than 180, which may temporarily affect us. I like a class given to us by my teacher very much, because in this class, my teacher showed us many kinds of images made of mathematical fractals, such as Julia's collection, which dazzled me and made me feel like I was in a fairyland. I can't describe my feelings at that time in words, which makes me understand that so many beautiful patterns on clothes and screen savers of various electrical appliances in my life come from the mysterious subject of mathematics. In that class, the teacher's talk made me gradually eliminate the mysterious aura of mathematics, let me understand mathematics, let me see the beauty and grandeur of mathematics, and made me interested in mathematics, an abstract science. Although I know it is difficult to learn math well, I am overwhelmed by the first semester courses of advanced mathematics: set, limit and calculus, but I know that as a computer major, it is impossible to learn math well without knowing it. I will try to learn this course well, not only the formulas and theorems of mathematics, but also the perseverance and pioneering spirit of mathematicians. for reference only
