Mainly from the perspective of whether the purpose structure is correct and whether the provisions and formulation of basic knowledge, basic skills, ability and ideological education are appropriate, the problem of ability is one of the key points of research. 1In August, 1980, the Research Association of Mathematics Education Modernization in Primary and Secondary Schools and the Research Association of Mathematics Education in Middle Schools in Northeast China jointly held the "Academic Seminar on Mathematics Education in Primary and Secondary Schools" in Shenyang. The first theme of the meeting was "On the Cultivation of Ability". The second is "the content of mathematics teaching in primary and secondary schools", and the problem of ability is the focus of discussion. Since then, "various teaching reform experiments centered on cultivating thinking ability have been carried out in various places". What is ability, what is mathematical ability, the structure and composition of mathematical ability, the relationship between mathematical ability and general ability, the difference and connection between mathematical ability and skills, and how to cultivate ability have all been paid attention to and studied in all directions. Emphasis should be placed on "grasping the fundamentals of strengthening' double basics' and cultivating students' ability" and "focusing on fundamentally improving students' thinking ability". The reason why the problem of ability is paid so much attention is mainly the new requirement of social development for mathematics education. In fact, the problem of mathematical ability has been paid attention to and studied in theory and practice, which can be regarded as one of the signs of the development of Chinese mathematics education in the 1980s.
On the basis of the above-mentioned Mathematics Teaching Syllabus for Full-time Ten-year Schools (Trial Draft), the Ministry of Education formulated the Mathematics Teaching Syllabus for Full-time Six-year Schools (Draft for Comment) in 1982, in which the "teaching purpose" part removed the two "definite" in the original expression, aiming at strengthening the cultivation of ability and summarizing the research results of mathematics education theory and practice in recent ten years, in order to adapt to China. On 1986, the State Education Commission promulgated the Mathematics Syllabus for Full-time Middle Schools as a transitional syllabus before the implementation of compulsory education mathematics syllabus and the corresponding high school mathematics syllabus. The teaching objectives stipulated in it are: to enable students to learn the basic mathematical knowledge and skills necessary for socialist modernization and further study modern science and technology; Cultivate students' computing ability, logical thinking ability and spatial imagination ability, so as to gradually form the ability to analyze and solve practical problems by using mathematical knowledge. It is necessary to cultivate students' interest in mathematics, encourage students to learn mathematics well in order to realize the four modernizations, and cultivate students' scientific attitude and dialectical materialism.
